Some charity single released on the back of the platinum jubilee is a very good shout, almost can't see that not happening now you've mentioned it (unless the jubilee doesn't that is).

The Kunts are doing one about Prince Andrew!

Indeed! Kunt said in his livestream the other day that they’re going to be ‘prepared well ahead of time’ (or something along those lines), so I’m hoping for a big pre-order campaign!

Going after a nonce* should theoretically get them even more support than going after the PM.

*suspected nonce, don't sue me for libel oops :kink:

Did not Gary Barlow release a single 10 years ago for this same reason? I can’t recall how it went now but I think it was a ballad.

Yeah it was called Sing and went to #1. It was officially credited to Gary Barlow, The Commonwealth Band & The Military Wives.

If you asked 100 members of the public to tell you how it goes I doubt you'd get many results...

Taylor will re-record and re-release 1989 first then Speak Now. Depending on the time of year both albums are released, she’ll score another two #1 albums. Eeek … please don’t come for me for posting this

Personally I would say the other way round I can only see speak now going number 1 if she releases earlier in the year alas Fearless, if she doing a big Q4 release again personally only see 1989 being strong enough for a Q4 number 1 (unless we don't have anything on a abba/adele/Ed level  )

Thinking about it now, it would make more sense for Speak Now to be released earlier in the year when there’s less competition and 1989 later. Either way, I still think she’ll do what she can to get them both to #1.
5. Steps announce the departure of one of their members

Happy 2022! :cheer:

Interesting, which one???

I can’t see it personally as steps will take a break again in 2023 for a few years after the 25th anniversary celebrations I am sure.

Rock and roll comes back- dominating the charts with guitar music all year - and no other genres at No 1, and we have the first heavy metal no 1 since Killing in the Name.

Interesting, which one??

Lisa going for a solo career.

- Ed Sheeran continues to be everywhere - The Joker & The Queen going to #1 due to signed CDs, he'll drop another album that'll return to the folk/singer-songwriter sound, and Merry Christmas goes back to #1 in December

- Harry Styles scores a #1 single early in the year, followed by another big era

- BTS release another English language single that'll break the record for longest running Billboard #1

- Taylor's Version of 1989 will manage even higher opening sales than Red

- Kendrick Lamar and SZA finally drop their next albums to big streaming numbers, and also collab on a single at some point

- Lewis Capaldi's comeback single will debut at #1, followed by an album of forgettable sadboy ballads that'll be the year's top selling album in UK

- The Weeknd continues his 80s synthpop run with The Dawn, which'll do decently well but won't spawn any massive singles

- The Kid Laroi has a huge year with his next album scoring multiple hits in quick succession (similar situation to Planet Her basically)

- The new Post Malone and Lizzo albums underperform

- Ariana makes a turn back to a poppier sound (with huge success obviously), including a big collab with The Weeknd

- Rina Sawayama's new album will be a turn to a more commercial/accessible sound (she's still a niche artist ofc so nothing from it will touch the charts)

- Jess Glynne returns to plague the radio with more bland house pop that the public will eat up

- Jesy Nelson continues relying on big features and famous samples to keep her singles going high in the charts, eventually being overshadowed by one of the other LM girls going solo

- Melanie Martinez scores her first UK top 40 hit

- Faouzia, Latto and Sueco score breakthrough hits

- Cavetown or Chloe Moriondo will randomly break into the charts for a brief moment thanks to Tiktok

- Rex Orange County finally comes out of hiding with another album, which debuts Top 5 in the UK/US

- One of the acts from this year's Eurovision goes on to have further chart success

- Little Simz wins the Mercury Prize

- LadBaby go back on their word and get a 5th Xmas #1 featuring a "sausage roll rap" from Stormzy

Drill music continues to provide lots of hits in the UK chart

A hardstyle/trance/psy-trance dance track makes the UK top 40 after becoming big on TikTok

Following the success of Love Tonight by Shouse, David Guetta makes another track into a UK chart hit with a future rave remix

Following the success of 'Ameno Amapiano', another amapiano song makes the UK top 40 after it becomes big on TikTok

The pop-rock sound continues to be popular, the 80s revival sound much less so as people get bored with it

The Joel Corry - I Wish style of poppy house music becomes less popular as people get bored with it

Fred Again.... has another summer hit

The K***s don't manage to get to #1 with their Prince Andrew-themed song

Jesy Nelson's following singles don't peak so highly in the UK chart as Boyz but still make top 40

For Little Mix members, Jade has the most solo success in the charts

- Sam Fender goes from strength to strength and has a huge year in which he completely dominates, and ending 2022 with the year's best selling album

Can't see it happening until his next album is released and surely he will have a break between albums, so maybe right at the very end of 2022. Anyway yes he will almost certainly have more top 20 singles chart hits when the next album arrives.

- 2022 will provide us with more #1s and periods of time where the #1 changes every couple of weeks as opposed to lots of long runs at #1

- Some more 'traditional' British guitar music will get into the charts, but with new/'underground' artists as opposed to previously established ones

- African/African-inspired songs will continue to pepper the lower realms of the chart with maybe another one getting into the Top 10

- A few one-hit wonders from 4-5 years ago will re-emerge as features on dance tracks, such as Hozier with MEDUZA

- Encanto will give us a Greatest Showman-style takeover at the start of the year, but thanks to the new rules with albums, almost the entire soundtrack will reach the Top 40 and will subsequently make lots of Buzzjack very annoyed

- Someone bald who isn't Aitch or Arrdee but looks like them will initially appear as a feature on a popular drill song before getting a Top 10 single

- Arctic Monkeys' new material will do significantly worse than people expect and will fall away from the Top 40 after less than 5 weeks

- Louis and Liam from One Direction will attempt to revive their careers by collaborating with each other, and if they're lucky they get Zayn involved as well.

- A song will reach the Top 20 which is so bizarre that no-one in their right mind would be able to predict it in this thread

- Ed Sheeran continues to be everywhere - The Joker & The Queen going to #1 due to signed CDs, he'll drop another album that'll return to the folk/singer-songwriter sound, and Merry Christmas goes back to #1 in December

- Lewis Capaldi's comeback single will debut at #1, followed by an album of forgettable sadboy ballads that'll be the year's top selling album in UK

Interesting if this actually happens! Ed won't allow it.
