- 2022 will provide us with more #1s and periods of time where the #1 changes every couple of weeks as opposed to lots of long runs at #1

Interesting that I very nearly put this one on my own list as well. I don't think we're going to see a dramatic change in direction in 2022 but I do think the overall turnover of #1s will be higher than it generally has been in the past few years- i'll say the year ends with 21 #1s marking the highest total since 2015 and a possible sign of things moving in that direction.

Also think Lewis Capaldi will be the album of the year and will do more in week 1 than Equals did

Arctic Monkeys will also be huge if they play the cards right and release what the fans want (more AM, less Tranquility Casino)

hope George Ezra also does well but cannot see him being as huge as he was with his 2nd album

ArrDee will have a #1 single as a lead artist

The longest reigning #1 single will be 10 weeks long and will be at there during July/August

A famous Drill artist will get put in jail or killed

A musician who was most active in the 1980's will suddenly come back with a #1 album in May

It will be September 2022 when you see this post after totally forgetting it existed when someone bumps this thread prematurely in September 2022! :D

- Ed dominates the year and scores another two no1s in desperation to beat Cliff Richard’s record for a British male of 14.

- Ed drops “-“ in the autumn which shoots to no1 but sells less than “=“.

- Adele performs To Be Loved and has a miniature someone like you moment for a week or two.

- Lewis Capaldi comes back with a no1 album but it underperforms

- Harry Styles comes back with a new album late in the year, both the lead single and album shoot to no1.

- Dua Lipa returns with her third album and scores a 4th no1 single.

- An old British artist gets wheeled out to do some platinum jubilee song.

- Taylor reaches no1 with her re-release of 1989 but doesn’t do as well as red because she doesn’t sign 30k of cds.

- buzzjack also goes into meltdown the same week as people argue it’s not a new no1.

- Taylor also releases brand new material towards the end of the year. No re-release of SN or R.

- Sam Fender goes onto have a breakthrough year and wins at the brits.

- Robbie Williams makes a comeback.

- Beyoncé drops an album out of nowhere and breaks streaming records.

- Indie/rock sees a bit of a revival with pop/rock becoming popular like the mid 2000s.

- Ladbaby goes for a fifth Christmas no1 with some sausage roll shite, probably rips off three lions.

- U.K. charts continue to be a mess with top 100 being half full of old hits for most the year.

- We have a mega no1 by some generic rnb or rap artist that drives everyone mad.

- A new rock act take the world by storm.

- A drag act represents the U.K. at Eurovision.

- George Ezra returns with a modest successful third album which tops the charts. Ends up doing a football song for England.

Hoping for a year where well established artists don’t have to keep pulling desperate and tactical moves to be no1 when they could get there organically anyway. And also they change the chart rules to better count albums streams properly and sort the mess of the singles chart out but I very much doubt it.

Jesy Nelson's album will reach Top 10 on the UK Albums Chart while

her next single(s) will do shockingly bad causing worry within her label

Little Mix's solo projects will perform incredibly well in the UK with all three members

achieving top tens, one member even reaching the top three

Rihanna will release R9 (for real....) and will also break streaming and sales records

in fact it could be the biggest comeback of the decade

Nicki Minaj will release her fifth album, and it will perform poorly but not as poorly

as Queen, it will be anticipated

Olivia Rodrigo will sweep the Grammys and will

release her second album called Sweet in March 2022 which will have the same success as Sour

Adele will release a new music video for a song of "30" and that song

will shoot up the charts due to the public's overwhelmingly

positive response to the video

Harry Styles will release his new album on February 4 - 18th 2022

and will do much better than Fine Line- in fact it could see Harry

being the biggest artist of the year.

abcdefu by GAYLE will be one of if not the biggest song of 2022

Stormzy will return and debut No.1

A new pop girl arrives and completely takes the charts by storm

A rap/drill song will go number one in the spring-summer (probably Stormzy)

My immediate predictions and hopes for this year:

- George Ezra's new album will do well as will its first couple of singles.

- Lewis Capaldi will (unfortunately) likewise do the same

- ITV airs a 20th anniversary reunion show for Pop Idol a la the ones they've done for Friends and Harry Potter recently. Will Young's greatest hits in May will do stupendously well off the back of it, Gareth Gates will release some sort of commemorative greatest hits with new material off the back of it likewise

- Jade Thirlwall will launch a major solo career and be successful

- Rihanna will release a new album or single

- Olly Murs will return with a new album in the summer

- JLS will repack 2.0 with a few new songs towards the end of this year

- New definitive collection album from Steps for their 25th anniversary

- Girls Aloud to release an albums vinyl boxset for their 20th anniversary. Proceeds from the sales of these going to the Christie's Charity that helped care for Sarah in her treatment.

Y'all are really giving a lot of work to whoever goes back to fact check these later in the year lmao.

To lighten the load I will not make any predictions myself x (I say as if I ever do)

Arctic Monkeys to get a No 1 single.

One Direction to release comeback album and get No 1 with lead single.

Olivia Rodrigo to replace herself at no 1

Rihanna to release comeback album

I wouldn't mind seeing a 1D comeback, but I can't see it with Harry currently riding the wave of solo superstardom and Zayn's total disassociation from the band ever happening.

Beyoncé will finally release her next studio album

But Rihanna won’t

Ed Sheeran will release another album and will dominate the UK charts more than Equals did

Mimi Webb will feature on a big dance smash

Adele will clean up at the Brits

Billie Eilish will release Oxytocin and it will be a big hit

The Saturdays will reform

Charli XCX’s album released in March will be a critical success but a commercial disaster

Anne-Marie will re-release a song from her album with a new male feature and it will perform moderately well

Lewis Capaldi will re-emerge in Q4 and do very well

Dua Lipa will return in Q3 with a huge new song

Kim Petras will get a top 40 hit in the UK

Cardi B will get a #1 in the UK

There'll be at least 24 separate no 1s this year.

Some dance DJ releases an extended medley remix of past No 1s for the 70th anniversary and it stays at No 1 til Christmas

Not my best group of predictions!

So who next Amazon prime Christmas song 2022

Sam Ryder

Wanted feat jls

Holy Macaroni you called that one.

UK will have it's most successful Eurovision entry for 15 years, and it will be a top 10 hit

- African/African-inspired songs will continue to pepper the lower realms of the chart with maybe another one getting into the Top 10

Great shout this one, Calm Down made it just in time!

Does anyone want to do the honours of the annual fact check of this entire thread? (Maybe I will if I feel sufficiently bored at some point)

I'll do the first post as I'm a little bored right now!

- Liam Gallagher's new album to get the highest first week sale of 2022 selling over 90k

Nope! Although he did manage to get one of the highest first week sales of 70.3k.

- Jess Glynne makes a comeback, but it's not as successful as her previous eras with only one Top 10 hit, but her album does get to Number 1

Nothing at all from Jess this year, instead she seems to be making a return very soon.

- George Ezra also makes a successful comeback with a Number 1 album
Yep! Although this wasn't much of a surprise really.

- Arctic Monkeys new album debuts at Number 1 with sales of 70k

I doubt anyone would have ever predicted that they'd debut at #2 with sales of 119k!!

- Abba and Queen continue to hang around the Top 20 album chart all year with their Gold and Greatest Hits albums
Yep, with ABBA reaching as high as #6 this year.

- Becky Hill to release a big summer smash hit dance-pop single that does well over the summer

Although she isn't the lead artist on it, I suppose 'Crazy What Love Can Do' fits this.

- Ladbaby scores fifth consecutive Christmas Number 1 single

It seems so...

- Ed Sheeran and Elton John release another Christmas single
Nope

- Clean Bandit continue to throw tracks out to try and get hits as does David Guetta

Yep, with a much, much bigger hit rate this year for David Guetta.

- We get no new music from Calvin Harris, but we do get a few Love Regenerator tracks
Very wrong. We got a whole album from Calvin and no Love Regenerator songs!

- Robbie Williams releases comeback album in Q4 which sells 60k in its first week.

Not really a 'comeback album', but his orchestral re-recordings album 'XXV' sold pretty well with 38k first-week.

- Tesco announce they will stop selling CD's in all their stores

Yep! It was confirmed in February, alongside DVDs.
