Poor Jerusalema - one of the top 40 paid sellers of the year and not even a top 40 hit.

Masked Wolf did fall out of the Top 40 as I suspected it would. :( I guess some other Christmas songs may have broken the bottom of the Top 100 so I’d be surprised if Anywhere Away From Here holds on.

Another banner year for Ed, half of the sales top ten! I didn’t realise Overpass Graffiti would be that high on pure sales.

Quite interesting that there are no collaborations in the overall end of year top five singles and only three in the top ten, in the last decade or more collaborations have been so dominant.

Rather than go through all 24 pages I'm just going to ask here!

How was this compiled? What period does it cover?

The latest issue of Charts Plus has the Top 100 year to date chart - the Top 40 of which matches the official Top 40 as posted on the OCC chart - is the full Top 100 in Charts Plus therefore the official Top 100 chart of the year? Eg it lists the Pogues at 86 and Shaky at 95. Would those be their actual positions for the year?

Yes the Chartsplus version will be the final official list. It covers the 52 weeks to the chart revealed on New Year’s Eve. (The Top 100 in the thread was up to Week 51 only.) It’s based on official chart sales, but effectively using old rules so ACR and starred out songs have their sales counted in full.

Where can I see the sales units?

I’m sure someone else will produce something more accurate including the whole Top 100 but I’ll give my rough estimates for the Top 40 in the meantime:

By my reckoning, the only songs which made a previous EOY top 100 to have reached new peaks are Mr Brightside (prev best #61 in 2020) and Another Love (#86 in 2013). And possibly Dreams, depending where it was in 1977.

Can’t see Dreams in the Top 100 of 1977.

Incredible streaming for Fleetwood Mac - The Chain almost made the Top 100 of 2021 too; was in it at the end of November.

occ really ought to do a separate catalogue chart now, if we’re now going to get Pogues and Shaky in the year end top 100 alongside all the other old songs here.

after seeing that mess of a post christmas chart I’m sure its at least on their mind as an idea.

It's not really much 'worse' than it was last year which they responded to by doing precisely nothing.

It does seem a little worse just in that some of these songs I just had no idea we’re being streamed a lot weekly-Another Love, Riptide, etc. The Christmas invasion is understandable as they actually chart but to see some old songs from years ago take place over actual 2021 hits is annoying when it doesn’t reflect the weekly charts.

I guess for me, I’d like consistency between EOY and the weekly chart.

I know it was only out in mid December but I'm surprised Ed and Elton didn't at least sneak in towards the bottom as I'm certain it's over 200k already? Must be just outside.

I make it 313k for Ed and Elton but the bar was roughly 375k.

Another Love went viral on TikTok in the last year.
