The second reset I agree it was unlucky to miss out on, but as least then the rules were down entirely to what the public were consuming and not record company decisions. I think it's sensible Overpass Graffiti and Coming For You got reset as they only went to ACR last week when most people spent 2 days listening to Christmas songs and barely anything else, but I really wish the OCC had left it at that.
January 5, 20224 yr So happy to see Adele reset. She will now break the record for most weeks at #1 by a British female soloist with 8 weeks (currently tied at 7 weeks with "Bleeding Love"). Surprised she's ~3k behind Ed in the album chart. Was hoping it would be closer!
January 5, 20224 yr To be honest Better Days is better than some of the songs that got resets, and maybe it can give Dermot a chance of another top 10 single! :dance: It peaked #16 in October, it's definitely not going to peak now :lol: (Unless there's a remix with Ed Sheeran of course) BMG always invents these sales for Kylie, must admire that. People wanted streaming included in the chart to represent what people are consuming so it’s always seemed odd to put rules in to control this. I have no idea why people are still streaming and 3 month old Adele song more than anything else but that’s exactly what they’re doing and so be it.

It's even more of an utter mess, and I'd really not want that as the official chart.

January 5, 20224 yr So could a song be reset every 3 weeks at the request of the label? :D This is a once-a-year occurrence to avoid the mess of a few years back when loads of stale songs got reset post-Christmas. This is a smaller effect than we'd see with that happening. Labels can request manually resets all year but the OCC only tend to grant them to songs that are actually up-and-coming hits.
