February 2, 20224 yr George Ezra's mew song isn't doing as well as I originally thought it would. I thought it would've been a top 5 debut. I was sure it would be in with a strong chance of a top 10 debut.
February 2, 20224 yr I'd be surprised if it doesn't climb over the next few weeks and end up Top 10 eventually. Paradise got off to an even slower start despite his previous era been huge.
February 3, 20224 yr Yeah I'm confident that George Ezra's song will be a slow burning hit. Definitely top 20 if not top 10. Probably would have done better had it been released in the summer though.
February 3, 20224 yr A summer release would have been better, but I imagine he’ll be wanting to get the album out ahead of his festivals/Finsbury Park show.
February 3, 20224 yr Years and Years climbing in the albums from the last update and on track for a 2nd week top 10, i thought it would struggle to stay top 100. I’d be interested to see how far it would have fallen without the added hits although I imagine it would still have been top 40.
February 3, 20224 yr Maybe Ezra's break was too long? Since his previous album we have got Fender, Capaldi, two albums by Sheeran, Grennan, Kennedy, must be forgetting at least ten other male solo artists who sing and play guitar.
February 3, 20224 yr Getting Don’t Matter Now deja vu with George Ezra’s performance so far. Clear by now he is not an artist to write off based on one under performing single.
February 3, 20224 yr But they're all different, Ezra does his own thing... basically he's started slow cos his label hasn't made a deal/paid for Spotify playlist support, it wasn't even on HH ton Fri so a slow start was 1010% guaranteed, with more support it will be a hit but needs the support... he's got radio support but that means nothing these days
February 3, 20224 yr Getting Don’t Matter Now deja vu with George Ezra’s performance so far. Clear by now he is not an artist to write off based on one under performing single. The songs not even been out a week. I wish people would give songs time before nailing them as a 'flop'. Charts don't work like that, unless artists debut at their highest position in the first week - which they don't. The song has a low position on HH and even that is helping it to gain ground on Spotify. Basically lets come back in a couple of weeks and see how its doing.
February 3, 20224 yr Maybe Ezra's break was too long? Since his previous album we have got Fender, Capaldi, two albums by Sheeran, Grennan, Kennedy, must be forgetting at least ten other male solo artists who sing and play guitar. Yes because all guitar based acts are exactly same
February 3, 20224 yr I didn't say that, I said he might have the same audience who has been used to listen to several other artists during the 3 years Ezra's been away.
February 3, 20224 yr Ezra will smash when radio starts hammering it. He is very much a general public artist than big fan base act.
February 3, 20224 yr Ezra will smash when radio starts hammering it. He is very much a general public artist than big fan base act. That’s what I think too he’s popular but way more casual artist than stan artist. I think all his big hits took months before they eventually peaked, the album itself will be an easy #1 though. February 3, 20224 yr Still really shocked at Beg for you’s performance so far! Didn’t even think it would debut top 100 (or even peak anywhere near there tbf). Edited February 3, 20224 yr by Jord
February 3, 20224 yr Fun fact: George Ezra has had a grand total of one song that debuted in the top 40 his entire career ('Shotgun' entering at #35, and that was as an album track funnily enough, when it was made a single it still spent many weeks stalling outside the top 40 before blowing up properly). 'Budapest', in fairness, was removed from iTunes for a while before a re-release on which it re-entered at #4. I don't think it's a given that the new song will become a huge hit but it's definitely too early to write it off as a flop as well, he's definitely one of those artists that needs time.
February 3, 20224 yr Another fun fact: Come On Home For Christmas was his only song to reach the Top 30 in any of its first 3 weeks on the chart (counting Budapest before the held-back re-release).
February 3, 20224 yr Still really shocked at Beg for you’s performance so far! Didn’t even think it would debut top 100 (or even peak anywhere near there tbf). Same, although it does sound really commercial (and I guess "trendy") by Charli's standards.
February 3, 20224 yr Could Arrdee and Aitch so well next week? Would dream for Charli to get to No1 at some point as unlikely as it is.
February 3, 20224 yr I always remember when I first heard ‘Shotgun’ when the last album was released and saying it would be a number one. Maybe the new single won’t peak until the summer since it’s summery sounding, stranger things have happened in the streaming era!
