I do feel sometimes this "summery sounding" thing is a bit of a myth. We wouldn't have a song called 'Heat Waves' getting its peak on Spotify at the coldest point of the year if the theory held that much water.

I don't think one can really PLAN what hits are big in the summer and what are not. And even less it makes sense to release a song in February if the aim is to get a hit during the summer.
We Don’t Talk About Bruno is surely #1 this week. No doubt about it.
Cue also, someone using the term "cheesy fad".

I don't really understand the term "Cheesy Fad" to describe Ed Sheeran.

Whereas his music could be considered cheesy, the usual definition for "Fad" is something that is popular for a short amount of time, with limited shelf-life and fades as quickly as it arrived.

I'm not sure Ed Sheeran's career could be described as that?

He is literally the opposite of a 'fad'. A certain person just kept repeating that term and its become a running joke I guess. ;)

Don Broco posted on insta earlier that they were still #1 in the mids and The Weeknd were at #2

He's definitely not a fad, he's a long term pop star. His music isn't actually that cheesy anyway compared to most popular music in history.

His career is now clocking up to 17 years, 11 of them since his first album success (by the way for anyone who thinks he was an 'overnight success' go look at the amount of EPs he put out beforehand). I think the issue is some people struggle to separate their dislike of Ed's music from his obvious talent, work-rate and sheer example to other artists. He was a man who was down and out, busking on the streets of London and yes, homeless (although he claims he 'wasn't homeless' his description fits with any professional organisations definition of hidden homelessness. He's rebuilt from that to become one of the UK's most successful pop stars in history, he writes decent music and he is an incredibly likeable person in general.

Come on Don Broco. That would be awesome.

Years and Years climbing in the albums from the last update and on track for a 2nd week top 10, i thought it would struggle to stay top 100.

Just out of interest, why did you think that?

^^boo that means Jamie Webster is no longer #2 :/
Just out of interest, why did you think that?

I thought that as I thought it would be a fan base buy only and with so many multi formats bought by fans on week 1 that it would drop fast so i'm really pleased with how well its held up.

^was never gonna do a 1-OUT the minute they added all the old hits to the release

not just for the Spotify streams but also on CD and itunes

so in reality it's a regular album+greatest hits package

Fairly sure the old hits aren't available on a CD edition of Night Call

You're correct.

It's not "a regular album+greatest hits package".

His music is really cheesy, basic and unoriginal. At times, it even sounds like a lullaby for an infant or a nursery rhyme.

I really don’t understand why you hate him so much, you let your hatred for him make comments that are just ridiculous. He’s a talented artist who makes good music, whether you like him or not you can’t deny he’s a talented artist with a good voice.

They didn’t add the old hits to the CD/Vinyl - just to streaming where they can inflate the album sales and iTunes.
