Can you imagine if Harry Styles didn't exist (or didn't release an album this year or released it later or had a less commercial lead single) then Bad Habits would be year-end #1 twice. Bad Habits has been a smash single for Ed, no doubt about that, its first day streams do not matter at all now haha. Although it was quite surprising at the time still.

I might be wrong, but I do believe that in Australia, Heat Waves is gonna be YE #1 for the second year in a row this year

It wouldn't surprise me. Have you seen it's chart run there? It had a run at #1 early 2021 and another run at #1 early 2022 and was in the top 10 for almost the whole time in-between and probably a while after its 2nd stint at #1 too.

In fact it was #1 the same week in two consecutive years. For something that's not a Christmas song it's really Incredible.

Considering it almost didn't enter at number 1 and was being deemed a floo at the time as well

By the way I reckon every song in the YTD Top 100 singles has been mentioned somewhere in this thread, though a few have only been mentioned thanks to TheModeReviews’ requests and I think one has only been mentioned because it happens to also be an album title! :D

The Killers direct hits will become a million seller this year and oasis what's the story morning glory will pass 5 million.

Thanks! Very accurate sales figures this week.

Beatles 1 - 3,863,251

Adele 25 - 3,863,050

Very close indeed!

So that's only 19 new albums from 2022 in that top 100 (Bruce Springsteen getting a new album there for a third year in four), and only 2 in the top 15. Ed Sheeran's = had 234 more sales in 2022 than in 2021.
Considering equals increased the number of tracks that counted by 25%, that's actually a decrease..... (due to a change in rules and addition of multiple remixes/new tracks)

Only 9 new albums from 2022 selling over 100k! I wonder how many new albums in 2004 managed that for instance
sad to see all those fake GH that no one bought or even streamed like Diamonds so high :/
I honestly don't understand why OCC removed soundtracks from the album chart but they still let greatest hits albums clog the charts like this. They should make a rule where the songs chart towards the parent album only. What Greatest Hits albums do to the chart in the streaming era is fundamentally different from when they were released in the physical/digital eras.
