May 1, 20223 yr As harry styles all Joseph fault have on lope 24 hour day lol One person can’t dictate how well a song in doing in the charts lol
May 1, 20223 yr One person can’t dictate how well a song in doing in the charts lol Especially when I have Laroi and Benson to share my streams with - 8 hours each
May 1, 20223 yr I don't think that's the point - more that it's strange to play it at the start of the show when it'd be guaranteed a play throughout anyway. I understand they're going for consistency with the hottest record always at 6pm but it's a strange situation to play a song at the start and then skip it when it's brand new in the chart a bit later! I always find it strange why they have started playing a HR at the weekends now anyway it used to just be during the weekday evenings!
May 1, 20223 yr And have the #1 determined by about 500 sales? BTS would get it every week! Paul Weller would also have a shot at no1 again :cheer:
May 1, 20223 yr At least there’d be more movement in the chart. Streaming is only increasing because it got added to the chart. Just think what would happen if streaming had not been added to the chart at all? I’d rather have a fast chart than a slow chart But the chart doesn’t exist to have songs that enter and go in 8-10 weeks in a way you find it correct in your head! If a songs popular it’ll have around, even in previous decades it was like that, see ‘My Way’ in 1968 and ‘Blue Monday’ in 1983 as two examples. Yes streaming has inevitably slowed it down but that’s life!
May 1, 20223 yr I mean, including streaming from playlists such as Hot Hits UK.m is akin to having radio airplay in the charts/passive listening so they could down weight those streams compared to searching out artists individually but obvs no appetite for the OCC to do that.

May 2, 20223 yr I mean, including streaming from playlists such as Hot Hits UK.m is akin to having radio airplay in the charts/passive listening so they could down weight those streams compared to searching out artists individually but obvs no appetite for the OCC to do that. Would they even have the data to do that though?
May 2, 20223 yr Would they even have the data to do that though? You can bet that the streaming companies do, but the question is whether they would give it (sell it?) to the OCC. Playlists/passive streaming certainly have no place in the chart so they should be removed, but that may require a renegotiation of the data that the streamers provide the OCC. Of course the record companies may not want this as it would reduce the size of the market (perhaps drastically)... Better to fake it with double dipping and passive streaming....? May 2, 20223 yr I dunno I think in any case it's pretty elitist to suggest that playlist streaming is worth less, like you have to prove you're a real music fan because you manually queue up your music listening plan every day. People aren't going to just passively listen to a playlist if they don't enjoy it.
May 2, 20223 yr As say for ages no long singles chart should be top 40 songs chart As no long singles chart not lot singles anymore and load album track that does my head in keep track from album off chart as play album on streaming count each song separately then course headache big act all way get 3 songs in chart. If keep singles chart then should only inc streaming singles not album track
May 2, 20223 yr That still wouldn’t make much difference though. From what I can see, unless I’m missing something, there aren’t actually any album tracks in the Top 40 this week? Of course we might get a couple from Future this week, but album tracks always seem to drop pretty quickly.
May 2, 20223 yr one thing for sure is that Spotify knows and can separate if you streamed Bad Habits from HH, from TTH, from the album, from This is Ed Sheeran but for me all this should count the same for the single charts what shouldn't count is for the album charts, only if you streams it from Equals it should count for the album charts if you stream from This is Ed Sheeran or from HH it shouldn't also, if there is a new version of 2Steo with Lil Baby that is not on the album, why it should count for the album charts if you stream it on HH but it's actually not on the album... makes no sense to me, like zero
May 2, 20223 yr also, if there is a new version of 2Steo with Lil Baby that is not on the album, why it should count for the album charts if you stream it on HH but it's actually not on the album... makes no sense to me, like zero This.
May 2, 20223 yr and it was the same with The Joker and The Thief you make a new version of a single, but you don't put it on the album, not even on streaming but if you stream the song (from anywhere), it counts for the album streams who can make sense of that?
May 2, 20223 yr I was wondering actually how Spotify and the OCC defines album streams, must be difficult to do that, hard to tell if someone has played more than 1 track from an album, which is what it ideally should be to count as an album stream imo.
May 2, 20223 yr Predict how Hold My Hand will do this week and in the near future: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=254442 I have no idea, but I doubt it'll have enough time to debut top 40 :')
May 2, 20223 yr I was wondering actually how Spotify and the OCC defines album streams, must be difficult to do that, hard to tell if someone has played more than 1 track from an album, which is what it ideally should be to count as an album stream imo. The OCC just adds up the streams of each individual track from the album (up to 16 tracks and with the top 2 weighted down to the average of the 3rd-16th tracks). That's why remixes don't have to be on the album to count towards it, they are combined into the main version of the song and it's that figure that is used for the calculation of album streams.
