What a great start for Charlie Puth! Just when we thought his days of a big hit were over.

It is only this high because it features a member of BTS so it had massive first day downloads, it'll likely be a lot lower by Friday, it's already down to #93 on Spotify :kink:

(I'd say 'Light Switch' was a pretty big hit anyway though! Certainly a lot bigger than it deserved to be at least...)

I’m surprised Spiller beat True Steppers to #1 as "Groovejet" was released three weeks after NOW 46, the compilation which that song appeared on and as NOW albums were big sellers back then, it wouldn’t surprise me that people were buying "Groovejet" even after buying NOW 46

I never knew that actually. Seems odd that a song would be tracklisted for a Now album before being officially released.

So knowing how powerful the BTS standom is on US charts, is Billboard now going to be spammed with a million of their side projects?

BTS' solo releases so far actually surprisingly haven't really made much of an impression on the Hot 100 (you get the occasional one week wonder appearance but that's about it, basically the same as in the UK but a little more frequent), the fanbase don't seem to get behind the solo stuff as much as the group stuff. Maybe it'll be different now the group is on hiatus, who knows ~
Did anyone notice how RUTH's original run used to be listed separately from its 2012 and 2022 run by the OCC, and now they're listed together, I think it's a lot neater, but also confusing as to why they did it in the first place, and if they'll combine other runs for songs that are listed separately.
It would be much simpler if they just combined the chart runs of all the re-entries and re-issues into one but then I guess they would be forced to admit that those Elvis #1s and other similar scenarios were not actually separate #1s after all.

What the hell is Porcupine Tree????

Prog rock band fronted by Steven Wilson (he's had a few high-charting solo albums in recent years), this is their first release in over a decade

I haven't checked out any PT songs in over a decade, might have to check some out of curiosity as I like 'Halo' by them. Wonderful to see them at the top. Steven Wilson being the same guy behind that BJSC smash 'Pariah' 5 years ago too <3

wonderful to see MUNA in the midweek top 40  hard to say if they'll stay in the top 100 yet but it should safely be their highest position to date regardless (apparently their previous best was About U reaching #170 five years ago)

Assuming there's no chance of them hanging on but a nice surprise to see Porcupine Tree nabbing a midweek #1 album! Have loved some of Steven Wilson's solo material during their hiatus and also am a fan of 'Herd Culling' from this new album.
Great to see ‘Getting Started’ by San Fender entering the top 100 even if it’s likely to fall out by Friday. Same goes for ‘Wet Dream’ by Wet Leg and Gorillaz entering at 71!
