UK Chart Run: 1-1-1-1-1-4-9-12-21-37-48-73 (12 weeks)

Falling at the final hurdle (but by an enormous margin) are London synth-pop duo Erasure. Prior to this release they had built up an extremely impressive chart history including 11 top 10 singles but this bundle of ABBA covers became their first and ultimately only #1 'single'. I'm not exactly sure what the chart rules were at the time regarding EPs but I believe this is the only one ever to hit the top spot? Much to my chagrin, this was my birth #1 which I've always been so very underwhelmed by but I suppose an EP is kind of unique.

Anyway, the final which was very much expected is now here. Choose your fave!

Stay is a million miles better than Snap with the infamous cancer lyric :/
there have been lots of EPs making #1, far from unique

Yes I see now in the very next year there was Five Live EP!

ABBA-esque is definitely the best EP to ever make #1. Such an imaginative and yet faithful re-working of some of the best pop songs in history. Sorry to see it go.

Snap! should win - one of the most iconic dance records ever.

Stay for me, an incredible track. Siobhan's middle eight has got to be one of the best musical switch-ups of all-time in a song.
Oh but PLEASE let’s not subject ourselves to Take a Chance On Me in the OP. The disturbing gold Andy Bell outfit should be there for Lay All Your Love On Me
