I wonder if the changes to Amazon Prime Music today will have an impact on the charts (6 skips allowed per day, unable to play full albums etc.,) as all I’ve seen is an online backlash to it so it will either lead to a decrease in streaming or people will migrate to Spotify etc

That’s one way to make sure those Xmas Amazon exclusives don’t get skipped so much.

Hoping Monster Mash is high enough to be top 40 Friday. Would love to hear it on the chart show for the novelty of it.

Last year, Monster Mash, Ghostbusters and Thriller were at #20, #22 & #25 respectively in the Wednesday mids, and ended the week at #41, #38 & #40 respectively, so I think they may all end up missing the Top 40 this year - I expect Monster Mash will again at least.
Poor Foo Fighters only at #8, considering their past few albums have gone to #1

It's a greatest hits album so that probably explains a lot

That’s no reason for people not to want to buy it. For me, it’s more of a reason to buy it because if I include all my favourite artists' albums on my phone for instance, it would take up too much space whereas with a GH album, it doesn’t take up too much space. In other news, I wouldn’t have expected to see Meghan Trainor on course for a top 15 hit in 2022

I suspect the fact that they've already had a Greatest Hits album on the shelves for the last 13 years with most of the same crowd-pleasers on it doesn't make the new one a super enticing purchase.

Only difference is that it also has a few songs from their last year album and their 2011 album

They've barely promoted it at all, it's basically just a label cash in release. Also it looks like their back catalogue streams (at least for the shared songs, which is most of their relevant songs) are still going to their existing GH album judging by that still being at #68 in the Monday mids, so the new one is mostly charting on pure sales alone.

(in fact this album is not on streaming at all by the looks of things - at least not Spotify - so I'm not sure it would be getting any streaming sales even from the songs it doesn't share with the existing GH)

edit: it is on Spotify, it's just hidden right at the bottom of their artist page and not being advertised as a 'latest release' whoops

I'd say Joel x Tom Grennan climbing in its second week even with the Halloween songs above it bodes really well for it to be potentially quite big?

I really hope so, it's a cut above what Joel Corry usually comes out with.

The Halloween songs will fall which will give Joel & Tom the advantage. I just hope that they don’t get lost in the Xmas rush. They are due for ACR on 30th December which I hope they can avoid but that’s when the Xmas rush gets really bad

I’m pretty certain it will end up peaking and becoming big in January once all the Christmas songs are gone

Do we still not have the sales for Ball & Boe then? Hopefully The Beatles are safe for #2, strong sales for them but was always gonna be tough to beat Taylor after that monstrous first week. Fred again.. presumably safe for #4 now as well (well clear of Ed and Harry's weekly sales level and looks to have a pretty good lead over Arctic Monkeys too), we love to see it! Hope he can hang onto a top 40 singles chart position too, especially as it'll probably overtake the Halloween songs.

It’s also not 2008 anymore, so people can download as many of their albums from Spotify as they want and it’ll take up very little space!

That’s if it avoids ACR by then

That’s if it avoids ACR by then

Even if it did, they might ask for a reset as it'll have only suffered in the Christmas influx which I'm sure labels of artists are aware of anyway.

Dean on for a more secured top 30 this week after dropping back last week at the last minute.

That’s if it avoids ACR by then

It'll easily get a reset if not, look at what happened the last couple of years
