How is Someday at Christmas (Amazon Original) #21 in the mids when it's #20 on Amazon and does NOTHING elsewhere? What the hell is happening with Amazon every Christmas...

 

Same reason Ellie Goulding got to #1 a couple years back. "Alexa play Christmas songs".

I wonder will there ever be Amazon/Spotify exclusive songs like Amazon do with the Christmas songs?
There have been 'Spotify singles' before which I presume are exclusives e.g. Coldplay's cover of Day N Nite. Nothing I can think of that has dented the singles chart though or had any level of impact like "Alexa play Christmas music" does.

I don't think any have, Spotify/Apple can't force them upon listeners in the same way Amazon can through Alexa.

Yes, if there were a Christmas playlist on Spotify which had Firebabe as tracks #3 & #18 and Someday At Christmas as tracks #8 & #23, I can't imagine many people would persist with it.
The two versions of Last Christmas on Apple… does that mean it would be #1 on that chart?

 

I think so. The highest version of Mariah is neck and neck with Shaky - so can’t be anything like as far ahead as Wham! and Mariah on Spotify. Comparing the 2 Wham! positions and the 2 Mariah positions with the streams of those equivalent positions on Spotify would put Wham! in a clear lead.

 

However, Amazon, playlisting is really favouring Mariah this year - whereas last year they favoured Wham! Last year I believe that Wham! was number one on Amazon for most of December.

I wonder if Leona/Ne-Yo's "Kiss Me It's Christmas" will manage to show up at some point. It did chart on Amazon/Apple music last year and did well enough to manage to chart at #99. It didn't get much spotify playlist support until it was quite close to Christmas. With it having more support from the start maybe it could chart again this year/reach a new peak. It has the benefit of being on SCR.

I can’t comment on Apple/Amazon support, but the support on Spotify seems much worse than last year from what I can see. Quite high on Easy Christmas with 112k followers, but otherwise not on anything else with a decent following. Considering the main playlists have millions of followers, that’s peanuts.

 

Clearly RAYE’s Monday numbers have crashed the chart…
