January 1, 20233 yr Brilliant chart. Thank you 🙏🏻 I’m assuming it only includes 51 weeks - and not the latest week, as I’m sure both Wham! and Mariah have sold over 580,000 and so should be in the top 40 - as only the top 33 songs sold 600,000 or more. Is that correct? Of course Bam Bam might have gone platinum when BPI awards are next announced.
January 1, 20233 yr Author as noted in the OP, yes, the most recent chart's sales has not been included, as the full EOY won't be available until later in the week and for various reasons we prefer to run the live countdown beforehand. usually there is not much variation between this rundown and the final official EOY, besides the Xmas songs getting a massive boost, so yes I imagine Wham and Mariah will be top 40 as they were last year.
January 1, 20233 yr Do we know if Viva la Vida has any chance of sneaking in at the last minute? I guess @JulianT will have the best idea on this Seems unlikely as even if it’s close would have to get past Tears For Fears which is streaming very well

Apologies - the font of the disclaimer was so small on my screen that I could not see it.
January 1, 20233 yr Great to see so many British artists getting the big hits this year but the number of tracks from before 2022 is depressing to me. I can't work out if this is just naturally because of streaming or if its because nothing really happened this year beyond the Saturday night bangers.
January 2, 20233 yr If "505" (#73) makes it onto the OCC's year end list, it will beat From Now On's (#71) record for the lowest peaking song to ever make it onto a UK Singles Chart Year End
January 3, 20233 yr Have the final version from ChartsPlus now - Brenda’s the only new entry and Tears For Fears sadly the casualty. Can post with some estimated sales tomorrow if that’s OK?

There is also the viral factor now where old songs are blowing up well after release due to Tik Tok mostly.
January 3, 20233 yr Aw at Tears For Fears - maybe next year x (btw I don't think anyone ever answered if this is the first time 'Yellow' has been in an EOY chart?)
January 3, 20233 yr Aw at Tears For Fears - maybe next year x (btw I don't think anyone ever answered if this is the first time 'Yellow' has been in an EOY chart?) No, it was also #93 in 2000. Source
January 3, 20233 yr Not certain if it hasn't been posted somewhere else, but the year-end chart has appeared on the OCC site: https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/end-o...-singles-chart/
January 4, 20233 yr Looks like there were at least 37 songs in the final EOY top 100 which had appeared in a previous year, or 38 in the top 101, assuming that's where Tears For Fears ended up. Songs with EOY peaks are shown in bold; if they only appeared in 2021 and 2022 those EOY positions are given in that order, otherwise years are shown: 2 Bad Habits [1-2] 5 Shivers [15-5] 6 Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) [1985: 56; 2022: 6] 7 Heat Waves [8-7] 13 Cold Heart [21-13] 22 Easy On Me [12-22] 27 Another Love [2013: 86; 2021-22: 75-27] 29 Mr Brightside [2017-22: 87-80-63-61-33-29] 30 STAY [7-30] 35 Last Christmas [1984-85: 6-33; 2019-22: 95-60-34-35] 36 All I Want For Christmas Is You [1994: 14; 2007: 99; 2019-22: 84-53-37-36] 37 Save Your Tears [4-37] 41 good 4 u [2-41] 44 Blinding Lights [2020-22: 1-9-44] 50 Perfect [2017-22: 6-6-46-57-35-50] 52 Remember [27-52] 53 Someone You Loved [2019-22: 1-8-30-53] 56 Levitating [6-56] 67 Shape Of You [2017-19: 1-31-76; 2021-22: 71-67] 68 Happier Than Ever [55-68] 69 Riptide [2014: 42; 2021-22: 83-69] 71 Watermelon Sugar [2020-22: 10-43-71] 73 Iris [2011: 80; 2022: 73] 74 Dreams [54-74] 78 Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah) [58-78] 80 Wonderwall [1995-96: 10-51; 2021-22: 76-80] 83 Shotgun [2018-22: 3-12-52-94-83] 84 Shallow [2018-22: 87-20-65-59-84] 85 Location [2019-20: 13-68; 2022: 85] 86 Do I Wanna Know? [2013: 55; 2022: 86] 87 Woman [79-87] 88 Yellow [2000: 93; 2022: 88] 91 Everywhere [1988: 92; 2021-22: 96-91] 94 Clash [49-94] 97 Baby Shark [2019-22: 48-72-73-97] 99 Don't Stop Me Now [2019: 99; 2022: 99] 100 Industry Baby [45-100] 101 Everybody Wants To Rule The World [1985: 24; 2022: 101] (not sure where Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree finished in 1962) Perfect become the first song to make the EOY top 50 without having a single week in the official Top 100 during the year - although it would have been starred out for much of the year and on some weeks would have been higher than #50 on the old rules chart (from which the EOY numbers are derived). Elsewhere, 505 at #64 does indeed finish above its official peak to date of #73, although it is below its peak on the old rules chart. Conversely, Heat Waves finished at #7 despite never being higher than #8 in the old rules chart during the year. Edited January 4, 20233 yr by jimwatts

January 4, 20233 yr According to Wikipedia, Kate Bush was #56 in 1985 No information on Brenda Lee in 1962, YE lists might not have been a thing/it didn’t make it Thanks for compiling this, interesting stuff!

January 4, 20233 yr Interesting that 'Shape Of You' wasn't in the 2020 EOY but returned to being comfortably in for 2021 & 2022.
January 5, 20233 yr Another observation is that with Food Aid being the only #1 of the year to miss the EOY top 100 (predictably), as it only reached #4 on the old rules chart, that leaves 2022 as the first year in which all its #1s on old rules made the EOY top 100 since 2016 (before the 'new rules' came in). The only old rules #1 to miss the EOY top 40 was Anti-Hero at #59.
January 11, 20233 yr OCC also posted the top 40 most streamed and best-selling songs of 2022. https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/t...of-2022__38203/ Harry Styles tops both, holding off LadBaby for the latter - I think they've had the second biggest seller for 3 years in a row now - with Sam Ryder third.
