Posted January 19, 20232 yr -BDImdAfodA Today marks 5 years since the release of 'Dancing', the lead single from Kylie's fourteenth studio album 'Golden'. A country-electropop hybrid, the song reached #46 in Australia and #38 in the UK (her 51st Top 40 hit) and earned Gold (35k) and Silver (200k) certifications in each country respectively. 5 years on, share your thoughts and memories of 'Dancing' below.
January 19, 20232 yr It was exciting as wasn’t there a leak a week or so before? 5 years it’s crazy. Hopefully it’ll make her next tour set list as it’s definitely worthy of being one of her biggest hits.
January 19, 20232 yr I wasn’t overtly keen when I first heard it but it’s grown on me. Certainly more credible than most of the stuff on kiss me once which was over processed in comparison.
January 20, 20232 yr Had mixed views when I first heard dancing but fell in love with it andcstill love it, I loved so many of the performances of dancing by kylie as she really throws herself into it and you can tell she loved performing it.
January 20, 20232 yr As above when I first heard it I was a bit meh - but when the project unfolded I loved it more and more, Golden is one of my favourite Kylie albums and I love that they put in a bit of effort to get it into the Top 40 (7” vinyl and the 99p remix package). It surprises me how well known it seems to have become outside of her fanbase and I’m sure the GP would be under the impression it was a high charting song.
January 23, 20232 yr Dancing was instant for me! Fast became one of my ultimate favourites by her. 5 years already! :o
January 23, 20232 yr I'd rank it fairly high on the list of some of her best singles, there are a good id prefer but with so many great singles to choose from it's hard to have them all in the top tier.
January 29, 20232 yr I still love it. Like SA, Confide and BTDYK, it feels like such a Kylie signature song. (Note: I’m one of the few that doesn’t consider CGYOOMH as a Kylie song, but more an amazing song the Kylie sang).
February 2, 20232 yr I must admit when the news broke that Kylie was going Country, I had very mixed feelings, but after hearing 'Dancing' I was fully on board. This was the killer lead single choice & gained a renewed popularity after the 'KMO' era nearly damaged her career. If this came out in 2014 instead of her signing to RocNation, then this could have easily been a top 10 hit.
February 3, 20232 yr I think the same it would have gone top 10 in the 2014 era, but even through its charted far lower its sold more than into the blue.
February 3, 20232 yr This song has turned me into a fan to be honest! I always liked Kylie, but she was hit-and-miss for me, and this was a huge step up especially after the two previous albums. With this song Kylie completely clicked with me as an artist.
February 8, 20232 yr Author I remember being really intrigued by the insider descriptions shortly before the 'Dancing' leaked ("country-electropop mixed with a bit of 'Anywhere' by Rita Ora") and I was excited to see the era unfold, particularly as I had just been appointed Kylie forum moderator here and it felt like this was my first Kylie era where I got to experience absolutely everything that goes into it. I was a fan of the song from first listen, definitely appreciated the change of style and how the rawness of the vocal brought focus to it and the lyrics. I love what a surprisingly enduring hit it became, eventually being certified Silver which is a big deal for a Kylie single in this day and age that experienced next to no streaming support. I hope Kylie continues performing it on tour and it can further secure its status in her discography.
February 9, 20232 yr Started to enjoy this song once restrictions from Covid were lifted and we could go out !!!
February 9, 20232 yr I didn’t really enjoy the song until I saw it live at Glastonbury then I was like oh it’s quite good actually. Then seeing it live at Brighton pride I came away loving it. It doesn’t hit as well as a studio recording though so I very rarely listen to it.
February 10, 20232 yr Im the opposite i prefer the live versions of dancing to the studio version, i think it really comes alive, live.

That makes you have the same opinion as Spiceboy, not the opposite
