January 29, 20232 yr It was odd how quickly it all died away. I assumed WDTAB was going to be one of those songs that stuck around the lower top 40 all year but then it only went on to have 7 weeks at all after falling from #1

January 29, 20232 yr I really hate WDTAB to be honest, 7 weeks was undeserved but then again Peru should've only got to the top is Sheeran wasn't on it. I'm still traumatised by the disney top 10 takeover.
January 29, 20232 yr I'd possibly have excluded Mariah and Wham! from this rate myself as they already reached #1 in a previous year (same goes for Adele), plus in their case they've every chance of returning to #1 every year or two while the chart rules stay as they are, with fatigue for both songs likely to set in even more. Nevertheless, it's interesting to see where they rate at this snapshot in time, and Wham! overtaking Mariah appears to be happening in more and more places.
January 29, 20232 yr I'm hoping that the Christmas song momentum shift continues and we eventually get Brenda Lee going to #1 instead, much better than both Mariah and Wham! imo. (...or The Pogues please but we know that's never happening) Encanto was definitely a curiously fast burning phenomenon but I think I'll always have fond memories of the soundtrack (though 'The Family Madrigal' should have been #1 instead wbk). Interested to see if there's ever a sequel if it can manage anything close to the level of chart success, considering Frozen 2 fell pretty flat compared to the original. I surprisingly didn't mind the GAYLE song at the time it was big but as time went on the novelty wore off and it just became increasingly cringe. It's not the worst though. That's still to come. x
January 29, 20232 yr Bruno is still a very baffling case to me. Both the song and the films had nowhere near the cultural impact of the likes of the soundtrack to Frozen & The Lion King and yet it's this that finally is the first Disney soundtrack song to get to number 1, and it doesn't even make sense if you haven't seen the film like a lot of others which somehow didn't hold it back and it left almost as quickly as it came. It'll be a strange one to look back on, but a very fun song and the sort of chart oddity that I really love
January 29, 20232 yr 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' topping the chart for 7 weeks was an absurdly brilliant moment in time for me :cheeseblock: the latin flavours of the soundtrack were a breath of fresh air in the chart
January 29, 20232 yr 'Bruno' I liked then went off quick but by the time the end of year came I liked again so up and down for me whereas the other two Encanto hits never grew off me. Still was cool to see a Disney soundtrack top the chart though. I quite like 'abcdefu' as well but was never a huge fave of mine either!
January 29, 20232 yr I feel like 'What was the first Disney film to spawn a #1 single' will now be a quiz question that will fool future contestants. If I wasn't an avid chart follower i'd probably guess The Lion King or Frozen to that.
January 29, 20232 yr Author I did consider excluding Adele, WHam & Mariah since they'd all been #1 previosuly, but in the end i decided to keep them since its the rank of the 2022 #1s and they all were #1s in 2022! thanks to all of you following along so far!

January 29, 20232 yr Unholy was surprisingly interesting. Might be my favourite Sam #1 aside from La La La actually.
January 29, 20232 yr I can see why it's divisive but I really like 'Unholy', it's great that something so bold blew up so much. As for the rest of this Sam era from what I have heard so far though...
January 29, 20232 yr From everything i've heard from the album, they picked the best track by several country miles for the lead single.
January 29, 20232 yr 'Unholy' was such a surprisingly great single from Sam, their best for a long time. I'm surprised it's finished mid-table in this rundown, I feel like it was really well-received on Buzzjack.

January 30, 20232 yr Overrated average dance. I did try to like it as I had liked songs by both the acts in the past.
January 30, 20232 yr 8 top scores for I’m Not Very Good :o . I did fear it might be as high as 5th though. I have to admit it is catchy but in a very lazy way - I feel disappointed in myself if I find I’m bopping to it. Also I’ve said this before but if Lewis’s CD dump for Forget Me had just been delayed very slightly it might have peaked at #2 for 7 weeks instead.
