After I complained about not coming 4th for ages that feels right! Not really a fan of the top 3, but congrats to Summericia for the win.

Absolutely delighted with second place. I added the song to my BJSC contenders playlist as soon as I head it in December as I thought it might do quite well. However, I never expected it to do as well as this. Many thanks to everyone who voted for it and it shows that a band that has been around for over thirty years can still come up with a great song.

 

(Also relieved that my nine points to Summericia didn't cost me victory :lol: )

GAG! Getting one win is hard enough but two in a ROW... and with such different songs at that, well done Rob! It won't be surprising to hear that I much prefer Thunder but still, a win is a win.

 

I don't really get... any of the top 3, but god knows we've had about 9 contests in a row of pop winners that Bra and the alt folk don't get, so the tide was bound to turn at some point. It wasn't really the best contest for me, so I guess that's reflective of perhaps the pop songs not being as strong? Hence the switch up in fortune.

 

Crumbs coming 21st is truly the most confusing underperformance in a LONG TIME though, don't get that at all. Thought it was both a strong pop song AND the sort of thing to have crossover appeal.

 

I certainly wouldn't have called Black Peppa being so high when I saw it confirmed though, but so happy to see that wound up being so popular, get it bitch :wub:

 

And happy to see that post-freeze 8 voter long snub didn't actually send me tumbling as much as I assumed it was - I'll take 12th, that's actually higher than I'd predicted and keeps my streak, that I only care about, up!

Yassssss, congrats Rob. A very deserved double win, an absolute beauty of an AQ and the only song that, to me, sounded like a winner. Although I wasn't sure if that was just because I loved it myself, but it feels good to give 18 to the winner again. I much prefer it to Thunder!

 

Second is awesome for Suedeonia and Levellers too, I would have never expected that, even with the great predictions it had.

 

Many of the favourites did creep into the top ten in the end, but it wasn't to be for pop this time, six non-voters really didn't help their cause but looks like Summericia was far enough out in front that it wouldn't have changed anything. Nice to see Lotunia creep in there, shame it was that low after some winner predictions but I'm happy it made the top 10 all the same.

 

I'm happy with 18th, it looked as if that was the best it could have done and I expected it to be a lot lower, so thank you for all the support, three straight top 20s is fantastic for us!

 

Generally great results, I only voted for one of the bottom ten, although liked a few more, and don't think Bhangra deserves to be that low but it really wasn't pop's month on the whole.

Yay 13th! That's a new Pestolian peak (in position but not points) so really pleased with that, thank you to anyone who voted for mariposas. Also a big congrats to Summericia - my favourite song in the contest so 2023 is off to a good start! Loving that whole top 3 but also the bottom 4 who deserved way better.

I have very mixed feelings about coming 11th :lol: better than I would've expected before tonight for sure... but I was in the top 10 for most of the thread, if not top 5! </3 Also a tantalising position... but my first ever 11th place?! I never expected Jenny to qualify at all, so will gladly take that! I actually want to try to do well this year so that's just an 87 point bonus.

Well that absolutely outperformed my expectations for sure. Still can't quite believe I've managed a back to back win with two completely different sounding songs and BOTH over 300 points as well. Incredible and all this whilst I'm on my biggest qualification streak as well lmao.

not sure if you're aware already but the song itself is over thirty years old too - the original version by Rev Hammer dates from 1991 (though to be fair, it's not nearly as good as the new cover version)

 

Jupiterdonia joint winning the semi makes their 21st placing even more bizarre, but hey.
