Spotify Updated:

#20 All of the Girls You Loved Before

#22 Eat Your Young

#32 Bakar - Hell N Back

#49 Take Me to Church (?!)

slow start from ed though

Up to #16 now. Pretty sure that's a fair bit higher than Calvin was this time 2 weeks ago which everyone hailed as a really good start (and with fewer hours to count, for what it's worth, though I doubt there would be many people spamming Ed on Apple Music between midnight and 4am) :kink:

slow start from ed though

#16 in just over 10 hours is pretty solid imo. New releases always start slower on apple too. True test will be seeing the Spotify numbers compared to bad habits tomorrow

Buzzjack gagging for an Ed Sheeran flop narrative again.

Didn't we hear all this before Bad Habits was #1 for weeks and weeks on end?

Tbf Celestial is still sounding decent right now.

I really did like Celestial.

But when you relentlessly throw shit at the wall some of it is bound to stick for everyone I guess.

ATGYLB rebounding looks promise for a multiple week top 40 run for taylor didn't expect that as she basically just threw them out
Not that I expected it to be a huge hit but wasn't the leak of 'All Of The Girls You Loved Before' viral for a while before release? That may explain it having more legs than most of her throwaway releases.

Tbf Calvin (or Ellie tbh) hasn't been a real force for a while now so there wasn't any expectation for them to do as well as they did to begin with, so I imagine that just surprised a few people. Whereas Ed continuously releases and smashes so there is definitely a higher bar for him to debut when he's arguably the biggest male in the world right now? (Alongside The Weeknd and Harry)

I'm not even going to comment on the start coz I don't really know what's good, expected or not good anymore  and I've learnt over my experience of being on Buzzjack to never judge anything right away.

I just hope people can tell that there is a difference between a "flop" and an "under performance" with this kind of stuff

I like Ed and I like Eyes Closed.

It'll do fine, but don't see it being anywhere near as big as Bad Habits and Shivers. Wouldn't be surprised if he isn't expecting it to be either, based on some of the stuff he's said about the upcoming album.

Do people honestly not reach the point where they're bored of his shtick? I mean, it's the same thing he's done a million times before.

Apparently not. This is kind of the problem with basing the chart on what people are listening to. Most people are incredibly boring in their music tastes.

Ed will be no.1 for ages and probably make several comments like ‘I’m so blessed people are listening to this, I wasn’t even trying to get to no.1 this time x’ and the usual suspects on here will lap it up and say that anyone not kissing Ed’s arse is being OTT.

Ed and his ilk are just very good at what I call timeless pop songs - i.e. classic pop structure with memorable sing-a-long hooks that instantly grab you. And I think that's a talent in and of itself.

I don't know why people get so upset by it. It's just pop music.
