Posted March 1, 20232 yr uN90xB7DswE UK Chart Run: 1-1-2-2-3-3-1-4-10-14-16-23-25-49-56-58-59-61-71-X-73-68 (21 weeks) Out next we have a star-studded cover version of the 1972 original by Lou Reed. This version had been used by the BBC as a self-promotion piece but following large public demand it was released as a charity single for that year's Children In Need. It shot straight to #1 for 2 weeks then spent a third week at the top a month later. It is to date the only UK #1 single credited to 'Various Artists.' The accreditation has only been seen in top 40 five times since then.
March 1, 20232 yr Perfect Day is one of those rare great charity records - should have lasted much longer. Spice again.
March 1, 20232 yr ^Agree, I kinda hate Lou reed's vocals so kinda prefer the cover Spice Up Your Life for me, the Spices at their worst
March 1, 20232 yr I like the ‘Perfect Day’ cover too with its myriad of diverse vocal styles (voted ‘Barbie Girl’ again)
March 1, 20232 yr Going for Barbie Girl now, although it's quite a close toss up between that, P Diddy & the Spices. The other three remaining are all 10/10s tbh.
March 1, 20232 yr Turning to Duff Paddy this time. I liked it growing up but I'm not so keen on it nowadays when I hear it and the rest I like to some extent so an easy choice.
March 1, 20232 yr Another fan of Perfect Day here so quite sad it has departed. Voted for Puff Daddy yet again.
March 2, 20232 yr 'Perfect Day' is quite good by charity single standards but it's still nothing special, I'm surprised it's done so well / has people actively liking it so much!
March 3, 20232 yr Looks like I'll be Missing You will finally leave this round :D Edited March 3, 20232 yr by Jason
