April 19, 20233 yr June 30th is currently looking like a very quiet release day, although something big could certainly be announced for it by that point. Cue a new Drake album... And yes, I'm not sure The Highlights will still be the biggest default album by then, its numbers seem to be drifting from where it was about a month ago.
April 19, 20233 yr He does have his TV series thing coming out soon so I imagine that'll push his numbers back up again? I can see Ed's album having quite a dramatically worse chart run than his previous albums tbh, Capaldi on the other hand might have a slightly better chance of hanging around as a default #1.
April 19, 20233 yr I can't see it on the horizon. We've got Ed Sheeran on the 5th May, which will take us right up until Lewis Capaldi on the 19th. June 30th is currently looking like a very quiet release day, although something big could certainly be announced for it by that point. Thanks, looks like it’s chances are not that high.
April 20, 20233 yr but also bare in mind a month ago The Weeknd-The Highlights was close to 10K, now it's close to 7K, which is not that hard to beat, even that rapper NF beat The Weeknd last week
April 20, 20233 yr Lewis just posted on his Facebook that’s he’s only about 400 downloads away from #1 this week and was asking people to download it. He must have moved forward his physicals in that case?
April 20, 20233 yr I can see Ed's album having quite a dramatically worse chart run than his previous albums tbh. One under-performing single which is already out of the Spotify Top 10 and nothing else released with only two weeks until the album? I think you just might be right there. Something which might keep his sales higher is the chance to complete the collection of maths symbols albums. If you have the other three, may as well have all four?
April 20, 20233 yr He is releasing another single tomorrow tbf - but still, to have anything close to his previous longevity he'll need to have multiple album tracks become big in their own right which he didn't manage even from the last era.
April 20, 20233 yr Lewis just posted on his Facebook that’s he’s only about 400 downloads away from #1 this week and was asking people to download it. He must have moved forward his physicals in that case? Do we believe anything not posted by the OCC after last week with Ellie Goulding and her album totals ?
April 20, 20233 yr Do we believe anything not posted by the OCC after last week with Ellie Goulding and her album totals ? To be fair, that wasn't Ellie Goulding herself who said that - it was a random person on Twitter and someone on here believed it to be true.
April 20, 20233 yr Lewis Capaldi tweeted the Wish You The Best CDs are being posted today, so he will be number 1 tomorrow
April 20, 20233 yr At least it doesn't feel totally undeserved like 'Pointless', if that is the case.
April 20, 20233 yr The highest weekly CD sales of the decade to date: 24,025 Eyes Closed 23,396 Overpass Graffiti 22,396 Pointless so can we expect 23,025 for Wish You The Best...
April 20, 20233 yr He is releasing another single tomorrow tbf - but still, to have anything close to his previous longevity he'll need to have multiple album tracks become big in their own right which he didn't manage even from the last era. Is it a single though he released visiting hours weeks after bad habits but that was only an IG
April 20, 20233 yr I don't know if it's being fully pushed but it does have a music video premiering tomorrow at least! (I don't think it's getting a CD release though, at least not straight away)
April 20, 20233 yr Assuming Lewis only stays at #1 for a week, it will be the 3rd out of his 5 #1s where CDs proved decisive, the first being Before You Go (before Pointless), and another (Forget Me) would have got there by a margin of less than 300 sales without physicals.
April 20, 20233 yr No that'd be Ed who only acheived 3 of his 14 no.1s due to the higher selling/streaming records being on ACR. Lewis has achieved the highest overall 'sales' each week he has made it.
