There have been 2 albums in recent years that debuted at #1 and dropped straight out of the top 100 in their second week (You Me At Six's 'SUCKAPUNCH' and Ben Howard's 'Collections From The Whiteout').

If she does drop straight out of the Top 100, she will be the first female artist to do so. ;)

I think she may be the first solo female to drop out of the top 40 from #1? (Jacqui Abbott did as part of her duo with Paul Heaton). Christina may actually still have the record drop for a solo female unless I am forgetting something, although boygenius as per my previous post beat her drop as did BLACKPINK if you count all-female groups as well.

This.

Try making your point less personal then by all means make it again, but repeated posts of something that's already been deleted isn't ever going to work. Feel free to PM me if there's an issue.

poor Ellie with that drop in albums

but at the end of the day, it's all cos of the way album streams are counted, she doesn't have songs on playlists so her album streams are low cos album streams are not counted properly, pure and simple, but if you look at Apple Albums based on real albums streams no playlists, she's #30, so doing pretty well, if album streams were counted properly she wouldn't be dropping out of the top 40. Same for boygenius who's been top 20 since release day. But then Elton-Diamonds is not even top 1000 and will end up top 10, nobody is streaming The Weeknd-Highlights either but the This is The Weeknd playlist.

I purposely streamed ‘The Highlights’ this week to disprove your post 😜

you are such a baddie 😜

I wonder what would happen if a big streaming artist just dumped their entire discography into an album on streaming platforms rather than a playlist?

The Weeknd - ‘The Discography’ or something like that lol.

The UK chart should be immune to such a trick, as only the 16 most streamed tracks would be counted for the albums chart.

Personally I think all Greatest Hits albums should be moved over to the compilation chart as they are just a collection of tracks rather than an album.

Christina’s drop still remembered almost 13 years later

I didn’t expect Ellie to be that low I was expecting somewhere like #15 for week two given how low sales actually are outside of the top 5. At least she got another #1 I guess.

Or there just possibly isn't a Wednesday update this week, can happen from time to time

Can see top 5

Weekend back 2 album

Patience is appreciated - I’ve copied in the article from MW as I’m out at the mo as is Joseph

Metallica are heading for first place this week with their new studio album 72 Seasons.

The record has a total sales figure of 26,461 so far, with 21,538 units made up by physical sales, 2,906 from downloads and 2,017 from streams. The album would become Metallica’s fourth UK No.1.

The Weeknd’s The Highlights has jumped up to second place with 4,614 sales, followed closely behind by Lewis Capaldi’s Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent with 4,009 sales. Taylor Swift’s Midnights (3,868 sales) and Waterparks’ Intellectual Property (3,717 sales) complete the Top 5.

In the singles chart, Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris remain at No.1 with their newest hit Miracle, which has accumulated 28,236 sales so far this week. Whilst David Kushner holds the No.2 spot with Daylight (23,692 sales), completing the Top 5 singles chart are Lewis Capaldi’s Wish You The Best (21,873 sales), Libianca’s People (19,980 sales) and Ed Sheeran’s Eyes Closed (18,293).

Her first week sales were 90% pure sales (and pretty low overall for a #1 album even by recent standards) so the drop completely makes sense imo - she's probably not even doing 1k in second week streaming sales.
