It's the biggest flop of Ed Sheeran career. Didn't his "buzz album" side project do better streaming numbers? FloppedT periodt. Let's face it :kink:

I think there's a difference to "flop" and "flop by whoever's standards".

So if anyone calls - a flop, they are likely to be wrong, as it's unlikely it will be a flop. But, it's looking like it will be a flop by Ed Sheeran's standard. In the same way, MDNA was not a flop, but it was a flop by Madonna's standards.

For my part, I got half way through listening to - and turned it off. I found it was a bit boring, generally sounded the same song over and over bar a couple of decent tracks (Eyes Closed, Curtains). I don't usually do this with Ed albums.

I do defend his song-writing and lyrical skills though. There may be a few clunkers in there, but I always think he writes a decent story in his lyrics.

That’s fair enough but that’s not an issue for Taylor Swift who’s literally about to release her 6th album in under 3 years :P And it may be less commercial but he’s still had a massive push, #1 on all the big playlists, and he’s still not making much of an impact.

And I’m just basing it off what’s historically been considered a flop - Glitter, Britney Jean, MDNA, Bionic etc. By Buzzjack’s definition none of them should be considered flops (which I would welcome :P)

It's fair to say Taylor is the exception here and not the rule...!! There's only so much playlists can do if your music isn't really "hit" sounding, so that just backs up the point of being less commercial really.

I don't think - is really comparable to most of those albums. It's bound to be #1 so that's immediately out of the range of Glitter (#10) and *especially* Britney Jean (#34!!!!). Bionic obviously fell hard in week 2 which I don't anticipate Ed will do. Even MDNA fell harder than what I expect Ed will have, though I think it's probably the most fair comparison (and worthy of being seen as an underperformance and not a flop).

In their home countries those albums peaked at #7 and #4, Glitter is certified platinum and BJ is gold, so you can really make anything sound good or bad by cherry-picking facts. Internationally ‘-‘ is not doing well at all so while it might be an “underperformance” in the UK, in the US it’s an undeniable flop

Perhaps so, but this is the UK Charts forum and we're discussing the UK Spotify chart in here so forgive me for not looking at the international facts...!!!!

Immediately had to look up the lyrics to this to confirm if they are as cringe as the song title sounds. (Spoilers: they are)

'Dog Days Are Over' is fast going viral on Tik Tok due to GOTG (people making Tik Tok video memes of

people sobbing their eyes out in a cinema screen as this song is playing over it

to explain their experience of watching the movie in a cinema )

EXAMPLE: HERE

Oh wow I totally didn't notice Florence getting as high as the top 30. I did see the song made the top 200 for the first time in the US today as well though! If this virality keeps picking up I hope there's a chance it might get a new peak at this rate (most likely necessitating a manual reset ofc but in the post Kate Bush era that seems like a reasonably safe bet)
The sooner Cha Cha Cha smashes Spotify the better. Went down a storm in the Liverpool Arena tonight!

Just checked and Dog Days are Over peaked at... #23!! How can it be such a low peak!!

really hope this is reset and charts again and re-peaks

It was like the 3/4th song from her first era, though it did rebound about the top 75 for 31 weeks lol!

Just checked and Dog Days are Over was the 2nd single from Lungs and only peaked originally at #89

then after the success of You've got the Love, finally made the top 40 peaking at #23

Kiss with a Fist/51

Dogs days are Over/89

Rabbit heart(Raise it up)/12

Drumming Song/54

You’ve got the Love/5

Dogs days are Over/23 (re)

You’ve got the dirtee Love/2

Cosmic Love/51

Will the UK be interested in the semi-finals?

More so than normal - it usually has some impact on iTunes but expecting it to be bigger this year and get some traction on streaming.
