Yeah some really surprising disparities between the Semi and Final televotes. Austria and Australia bombing from the semis to the final. Norway picking up loads of extra support.

I wonder if the voting demographic is quite different between the two.

Austria… My heart…

Once upon a Eurovision dreary, Austria pondered weak and weary; Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten success. “Prophet!” said they, “thing of evil!—prophet still, if bird or devil! By that Heaven that bends above us—by that God we both adore— Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn, It shall clasp a sainted success whom the angels name top 10. Clasp rare and radiant points whom the angels name voters".

Quoth the Running Order "Nevermore"

(I'll see myself out x)

Ok clearly something was in the water last night because WHAT were some of those results - I mean, Serbia?? Spain?? France?? AUSTRIA??? I assume I was watching the same songs as everyone else right?

The perfect top 2 although I'm sorry Israel and Italy didn't need to be that high. Very pleased for Australia and Norway though.

I didn't expect the UK to do *THAT* bad but the performance did feel underwhelming and it was the sort of song that relies on a big energetic performance. Mae actually has so much personality (her Tiktok is iconic) but the wide angle shots and rather empty staging didn't do her any favours. Hopefully this doesn't put them off trying harder next year - I still feel the perfect recipe for a smash would be to send something non-English language but I get the vibe the BBC is too scared to do that.

Despite the UK's placing I still think this year is going to really increase Eurovision interest in the UK. For a lot of people it'll have been a great introductory Eurovision - I was watching with friends who'd mostly never seen a show before, and they all realised they actually already knew some of the songs and want to watch again next year.

That's a great idea. In fact I think it could attract a lot of votes. Glain Rhys is the first that comes to mind. Imagine sending a beautiful Welsh ballad! :o

These were among my faves too, cannot understand how these did so badly, and that mess by Israel finishing 3rd.

Rest of the world televotes are interesting and not quite in line with Europe:

1 France

2 Spain

3 Croatia

4 Norway

5 Ukraine

6 Albania

7 Sweden

8 Armenia

10 Finland

12 Israel

Croatia was REALLY BAD.

But the rest of the world got it right with France and Spain. Add Loreen and they'd hsve been spot on, divorced from the hype trains of Europe.

Great to see Croatia getting high marks from the rest of the world. It's utter genius.

Ikr. Drawing first half and then being handed the opening spot absolutely killed their televote dead. So happy they at least got a much much higher jury score than I thought they would

I still cannot believe they only got 16 points in the televote — death slot or not.

💔

I almost cried reading Teyas tweet. They did so well, they didn’t let anyone down at all. They had such an incredible song, a literally one of the best of all time Music Videos, and their vocals were so good. They were such fun and they had a fun track with a punchy message.

I feel so bad for them, they deserved a really great televote score and a much better jury score (even tho it came in above expectations that was just coz my expectations of the jury were so low the bar was buried)

Anyways, are we going to talk about the public interrupting many times chanting 'Cha Cha Cha' during results?

At some point I felt bad for Loreen when she was leading and racking those 12 points one after another and people were 'Cha Cha Cha'-ing instead of cheering her!!!

Yes I agree! I feel at times this is quite disrespectful and it also seems Loreen is not happy about it too :(

That's just the UK crowds for you. Pretty sure they do that at any event like this

I love how she was immediately able to capture the crowd back despite them clearly not being happy CCC didn't win, by getting the reaction she did during that final performance and then the applause and cheering right at the end. Beautiful. That's how you can tell she's a star, imo.

I understand fans vocalising their support and excitement for their favourite country/act/song, though there's surely more appropriate times to do that, such as when Finland were announced as getting a 12, or when a high score was revealed for them prior to the announcement of which country got the 12. Go wild then by all means! Not when a 12 for Sweden/Loreen is announced...

Anyway I feel that pales in comparison to some of the comments I've seen about Loreen on social media... some of it is so horrible that I decided to stop reading pretty quickly. They're a bad reflection on Eurovision fans, but I know that's obviously not all fans and that there's so many more who won't behave like this.

I just hope Loreen isn't acutely aware of some of the online noise. As the winner she deserves to revel in this moment, to feel happy for herself and Sweden, and be proud of her accomplishments. I would be gutted for her if she gets any sense that the public en masse doesn't feel like she deserved it. Also, I really don't understand the viewpoint of "she won already, she shouldn't be taking part at all". Does anyone say that about the footballers of the country that wins the World Cup? That they shouldn't take part again because they've won already? Oh please.

We saw in the year of 'Statements' that Loreen doesn't have the status to coast by simply because she's Loreen - that song didn't even reach the Melodifestivalen final. I think exactly the same applies to this year. She didn't coast to victory. She landed on a song and performance that clearly clicked with the Swedish public, the juries and a huge amount of people watching the semis and final... and she put her absolute all into every single performance.

What I found confusing was the cheers for Finland and Sweden were both very loud, so why were there no chants for Sweden/Tattoo?

I also thought it was disrespectful - not just to Loreen but to all of the contestants
