I think you could blame it on many things from about 2010 onwards. I'd love to be proven wrong but at this point I can't see her ever having another solo hit

Fair point hun

I know what you mean, where did it all go wrong? Confessions is one of the best pop albums of all times, I kinda liked celebration though and I quite liked miles away.

I dont like unpopular though.

Just Carol Honey ❤️

Quite the opposite - she is cleverly rebuilding her brand with different projects, from the GH tour to collaborations. She can very well go top 40 on her next proper solo single. Her catalogue streams have been increasing for several years now. With Popular, she gets more daily streams on Spotify than Pink and Fleetwood Mac.

Sorry not sorry but I absolutely love this TRASH *.*

Of course I’d rather she did something GOOD again, but I’ll take catchy and throwaway. Plus I’ve always love a Madge expletive laden spoken word section.

Its a bit Israel-Eurovision-entry musically I think, definitely not lyrically of course!

For some reason I f***ing love this and I've got absolutely no idea why.
Not sure what the point of this release is, just trash.

Yep. It sounds like a mix of Israel's 2022 & 2023 entries.

The "Do you know how to spell my name?" section was clearly ~inspired~ by Noa's "Do you wanna see me dance?" in Unicorn 🦄.

Shame on Fadge. She has become such a copycat. :nono:

This could be track #2 on the MDNA album and so with that in mind.. I am starting to STAN?

What on earth is wrong with you young... ish people today?

Rightly or wrongly, I don’t count Popular as being evidence that she is being better received and people aren’t listening to it because she’s present on it. She barely features. I also don’t think the Christine feature is going to amount to anything, I like her parts and think they work but the album itself is definitely not going to receive much attention from the public. I’ll reserve judgement on this Sam collab. It could do well and it definitely feels more like it’s had her input… although it’s very much a reminder of her eras that the public didn’t like so I’m not sure that’s what she needs if she’s rebuilding the brand?

We’ll see what effect the tour has. I definitely think she needed a greatest hits tour to remind the public what she achieved and how great she is, I really hope it goes well and isn’t tarnished by the same types of reports as the last tour was.

:kink: I was heavily intoxicated when writing that post and listening to the song. This morning, hungover, it isn't hitting quite as hard but I think I will enjoy it for what it is whenever out~

Also young...ish! I'll take that!! *.*

Had this is my head all morning ffs. The beat itself is actually incredibly catchy, just the lyrics are SO cringe!

It is very MDNA era for sure, would fit on that album very well.

I am totally there with the MDNA comparisons. I definitely thought about Gang Bang when I heard it.

The similarities with "Speak bitch and say our f-ing names" and "Drive bitch... and while you're at it die bitch".

As if Ryan Tedder wrote this. Is the entire music industry just setting her up!?

Well, he's taken credit for it. Lord knows why.
