July 7, 20233 yr So DBE top 10 and with a potential album boost coming it could go even higher next week. Fingers crossed the 3 Taylor songs push it out
July 7, 20233 yr Good to see Gunna entering the top 20 now, wouldn't mind that being a future top 10. Yay for Jorja managing to climb another place too - interested to see if the 'Gypsy Woman' mashup charts in its own right (still not completely sure if it's combined or not). Pfft at 'Baby Don't Hurt Me' re-overtaking 'UNHEALTHY' -_- I thought Olivia Dean was that BJSC artist from a while back but apparently not?? You may be thinking of Olivia O'Brien and/or Olivia Holt? There are a lot of Olivias in pop
July 7, 20233 yr Author 10 | | 1st week D-Block Europe and Clavish Pakistan 2nd single from DBE World Released: 30th June 2023 Label: D-Block Europe Chart Statistics NE (13/07/2023) | 10 Sales: - Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 00 Sales 00 Audio Streaming 00 Video Streaming Video Ry1m40ScWks Biography D-Block Europe “We’re the ones that are pushing this boundary,” D-Block Europe’s Young Adz told Apple Music. “People who are signing urban music over here—they call it urban, we call it pop in the streets—that ain’t street music. We’re doing street, UK, wavy music, front-lining it.” They might not consider themselves pop, but by the most literal definition, DBE are just that. Chart positions, sold-out arenas and a nomination for the 2020 BRIT Award for British Group (before they’d even released a debut album) all make them one of UK rap’s most popular acts. D-Block Europe was originally a collective that called upon various London MCs, but Adz and childhood friend Dirtbike LB have emerged as both the engine room and executive board of the operation. They met at Sedgehill School in South London, where Adz was dropping mixtapes from the age of 13. He signed an ultimately fruitless major-label deal at 15 before coming under the patronage of NY rap heavyweight Jadakiss, who offered features, support slots and license to use The LOX’s D-Block Records name. With a series of self-released singles and mixtapes, Young Adz and Dirtbike LB took their place at UK rap’s top table during the late 2010s. Leavening trap’s chilly textures and portraits of road life with sticky Auto-Tuned hooks, their music is notable for its nimble wordplay and candour. While D-Block quickly gathered notoriety for their unfiltered bedroom braggadocio (“Kitchen Kings”), their willingness to open up about mental health and therapy (“Prescription Drugs”) has made them a standout presence in UK rap. It’s all been done independently by the industrious duo (63 new tracks released across three mixtapes during 2019 alone). They’ve continuously waved away offers from labels, confident that no one can guide their career as well as they can. Every award, Top 5 release or filled arena only strengthens their self-belief. “When you see Messi kick ball, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing,” said Young Adz. “Sometimes, the people have to choose you because they’re like, ‘We ain’t never going to see this again—from their sounds, from what they talk about.’ Our personalities shine through our music. We’re bigger personalities than rappers.” - Apple Music Clavish It’s fair to say that Clavish is on an upward trajectory after finding consistency with releasing music and often finding success in how it’s being received by the culture. In 2021 he released his EP 2022 a five-track teaser into what a Clavish project would sound like and this year alone he has released ‘Lately’, ‘Greece’ and ‘Sold Out Shows’. In his latest release ‘Public Figure’ the North-West rapper acknowledges his newfound position in rap culture, arguably being seen as one of the most exciting up-and-coming rappers in a new generation that comes directly after the crop of Dave, Fredo, J Hus, AJ Tracey and Mostack. Navigating his success, like all rappers he still struggles to remove himself from certain situations that were familiar to him in his old life, as he raps with quality cadence “You know I’m an artist but if I see three numbers you know I’m spinning the coop.” - New Wave Magazine Top 100 Chart History D-Block Europe 2018 49 Gucci Mane (D-Block Europe & Yxng Bane) -1- 2018 35 Nassty (D-Block Europe, Young Adz, Dirtbike LB & Lil Pino) -NAS- 2018 80 Tell The Truth (The Plug presents D-Block Europe & Rich The Kid) 2019 16 Kitchen Kings -1- 2019 62 Kettle Pouring -AT- 2019 70 Running Man -AT- 2019 20 Home P*ssy -1- 2019 53 Rich (The Plug presents D-Block Europe & Offset) 2019 16 Nookie (feat. July 7, 20233 yr As It Was could potentially go back to T10 next week though right as other tracks are moving to ACR before it? Fingers crossed it’s on ACR the following week in any case and stays away. Miracle, Giving Me, Dancing is Healing and React are all likely to hit ACR next week, so it could happen unless the Taylor album tracks do amazingly well
July 7, 20233 yr I'm mystified by the supposed appeal of D-Block Europe, it's debatable whether the stuff they churn out can even be classified as music.
July 7, 20233 yr Well... at least Kylie wasn't 11 with this at 10. Not that 'REACT' would be preferred.
July 7, 20233 yr anyway I despair for the taste of UK rap fans if DBE's new single goes top 10 this week when Stormzy was lumped with a #11 peak just last week It’s a shame the Stormzy one is flopping, far better than those that made the top 2.
July 7, 20233 yr Author 09 | 05 | 11th week Rudimental, Charlotte Plank and Vibe Chemistry Dancing Is Healing 2nd single from forthcoming studio album Released: 21st April 2023 Label: Rudimental Chart Statistics NE (04/05/2023) | 66-47-33-23-14-11-8-6-6-5-9 Sales: 100k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 08 Sales 05 Audio Streaming 25 Video Streaming Video 6MnMjUxuOlA Biography Rudimental Music knows roots but not borders, and the same is true of Rudimental. Since forming in 2011, the London quartet of producers (Piers Aggett, Kesi Dryden, Amir Izadkhah, and Leon Rolle) has faithfully championed UK dance music’s hybrid spirit, fusing drum ’n’ bass, house, reggae, and more into a soulful amalgam. When they appeared with early singles like the barnstorming 2012 anthem “Feel the Love,” there was nothing else like them out there: UK underground dance tilted toward cozily retro house, while EDM was in ascendance around the world. Rudimental sidestepped both trends, favoring songwriting over club tracks and pulling from a broad range of inspirations—though songs like the shuffling “Spoons” proved them adept at the deepest strains of UK garage, and “Waiting All Night” could dwarf the biggest main-stage banger. Rather than hog the limelight, the producers turned the lens back on the multicultural stomping grounds of their native Hackney, whose famous Peace Carnival mural is depicted on the cover of their debut album, 2013’s Home. Similar themes of solidarity and community uplift powered subsequent albums; so did the group’s knack for finding exactly the right singer for their songs. In addition to their rotating cast of top-shelf contemporary vocalists like MNEK, Sinead Harnett, and Ed Sheeran, they brought in bona fide legends like soul icon Bobby Womack and South African choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo. It’s a way of acknowledging that, much as dance music needs to keep moving forward, it’s nothing if it forgets its past. - Apple Music Charlotte Plank Charlotte Plank is a 22 year old singer-songwriter-producer inspired by an eclectic array of artists, genres and eras from 90s grunge and DnB to modern Pop. Her music will take you through from the commute to the rave, bridging the underground to the mainstream alongside bringing you a nostalgic yet new unique sound. Charlotte has been set up for an exciting 2023; featured in NMEs 100 emerging artists for the year and as one of the legendary Zane Lowe's artists to watch in 2023. - Spotify Vibe Chemistry Vibe Chemistry is a UK based Drum & Bass producer best known for his Radio 1 play-listed track ‘Balling’ and other vibe filled hits such as ‘Living Like This’ & most recently ‘Baddest’. Since 2012 Vibe Chemistry has been inspired by all spectrums of Drum & Bass and since July 2021 landed his first label deal with DnB Allstars with his ‘Balling EP’. Balling hit #1 in the UK Top 200 Shazam Chart, #1 on Beatport, was B-Listed at Radio 1 and sat top 40 in the UK singles chart for 7x weeks. After this success he also released an Edit inviting talented vocalists to put their spin on his track. On Spotify alone he now has 8 (and counting) tracks with over 1 million plays, showing that the future is looking highly positive for Vibe Chemistry and we can’t wait to hear what he releases next. - Spotify Top 100 Chart History Rudimental 2012 01 Feel The Love (feat. July 7, 20233 yr First Top 10 hit to share its name with a country since Peru Third, if you count LDN by Lily Allen in 2006. Edited July 7, 20233 yr by IdentFan101
July 7, 20233 yr I'm sure DBE probably isn't going to be much of an improvement but huzzah that Switch Disco are gone from the top 10 even before ACR. Good that 'As It Was' seems to be finally falling off a bit of its own accord now too, hopefully back to ACR after next week. So DBE top 10 and with a potential album boost coming it could go even higher next week. Fingers crossed the 3 Taylor songs push it out It is already behind 1 Taylor song so only 2 more can push it down! For now just adding another to the list of UK rap hits this year to peak at either #9 or #10, with 'Sprinter' and 'Who Told You' being the only ones to go higher. Can definitely see it becoming the third UK rap top 8 hit of the year next week :P
July 7, 20233 yr Author Third, if you count LDN by Lilly Allen in 2006. Pakistan is the first since Peru. Not the second one ever. (and London's not a country)
July 7, 20233 yr This was climbing in the mids :( not surprised Peggy and Taylor have overtaken though.
July 7, 20233 yr Author 07 | 09 | 3rd week Peggy Gou (It Goes Like) Nanana 1st single from forthcoming studio album Released: 15th June 2023 Label: XL Recordings Chart Statistics NE (29/06/2023) | 14-9-7 Sales: 40k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 26 Sales 11 Audio Streaming 00 Video Streaming Video ssKWFlclNFg Biography Peggy Gou is a South Korean-born DJ and producer based in Berlin. During the 2010s, she became internationally renowned for energetic DJ sets, which dreamily flow through various styles of techno, house, and electro. A 2019 volume of the DJ-Kicks series demonstrated her eclectic approach. Her own tracks, such as the acclaimed 2018 single "It Makes You Forget (Itgehane)" and 2021's "I Go," are vibrant, joyous productions that echo vintage deep house and post-disco without sounding like throwbacks. Gou seemed to appear out of nowhere in 2016, releasing no less than four 12" EPs of bright, slightly hazy house tracks during the course of the year. In actuality, she had been producing and DJing for several years -- she learned to beatmatch in Korea in 2009 and resumed the hobby a couple years later, when she was attending the London College of Fashion. After racking up gigs during the next few years, as well as moving to Berlin, she made her breakthrough in 2016, releasing two Art of War EPs on Radio Slave's Rekids imprint, "Day Without Yesterday" on Phonica White, and Seek for Maktoop on Technicolour. She also played dozens of gigs across the globe, including dates with Moodymann, the Blessed Madonna, Jackmaster, and others. Following an even busier 2017, which included her first American tour and a month-long BBC Radio 1 residency, Gou returned to the studio. Her Once EP was released by Ninja Tune in 2018, led by "It Makes You Forget (Itgehane)," a catchy single featuring Gou's Korean-language vocals. "Travelling Without Arriving" was issued by Phonica White soon afterward. In 2019, Gou released the two-song Moment EP on her own Gudu Records, as well as her first mix CD, a volume of !K7's long-running DJ-Kicks series. She was featured on "Jigoo," the lead track from Maurice Fulton's Gudu-issued Earth EP, in 2020. The following year, Gou released the downtempo single "Nabi" (featuring OHHYUK) and the electro-disco tune "I Go." - Spotify Top 100 Chart History 2023 07 (It Goes Like) Nanana -1- 0 x #1 | 0 x Top 5 | 1 x Top 10 | 1 x Top 20 | 1 x Top 40 | 1 x Top 100 Social Media Peggy Gou http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png
