The ladies had appeared as auditionees on Popstars The Rivals and from there they secured a record deal. The song peaked at #2 and spent 4 non consecutive stints at that position on Dec 2002 and Jan 2003. The girls scored a further 3 top 10 hits in the next 12 months too including a couple of Christmas releases. It's also worth noting that their birthday is 31st October - Halloween 🎃

I do sort of see what you mean. I always thought when Bodyrockers released I Like The Way that that felt like Flashdance on steroids. A similar bassline but did more with it in terms of development of the melody.

 

Although I prefer Flashdance anyway as I'm not keen on the Bodyrockers guy's voice and like the talky vocal on Flashdance.

The radio edit of Flashdance I remember back at the time is great but I agree the near 8 minute version on Spotify is a bit of a chore to sit through.
