I don’t dislike Fix You like Dandy but there’s something I’ve never quite found sincere about it. Delighted and surprised to see Talk outdoing it.

Trouble is just utterly stunning - Yellow is awesome too but it was Trouble that really convinced me they were something special.

Fix You is definitely the only song of theirs that I would go out of my way to turn off - and even if I left it on, I can’t help but sing along in a forced moany and whiny voice. I do quite like the bit where he doesn’t sing though.

Amazed Fix You isn’t higher - such a beautiful song

Trouble is the song that got me into Coldplay ❤️

That's me with thr AWFUL Viva La Vida

I am now declaring this result invalid and the Survivor a few years back I ran the definitive ranking, but thanks for running anyway xx ^_^

Ooo these have been coming in fast.

'Lovers in Japan' surprised so high although a fantastic track especially poignant after visiting Osaka!

'Moonlight' - one of my 11s. Such a stunning, unique track with that intriguing video. Love the ending too. Never in a million years expected to see that the highest 'Ghost Stories' track

'Every Teardrop is a Waterfall' - I thought that when this left the top 40 after just 2 weeks (especially with the charts at that point being very rock un-friendly) their imperial phase was over but it rebounded (if not repeaked) after Glasto and of course the follow up was humongous. Brilliant, rousing track where verses are better than chorus

'In My Place' I adored from first listen, so much grander and epic in production than all the 'Parachutes' singles. The chorus especially brought hairs to the back of my neck too. So powerful. I know it has its detractors so pleased it made top 10 here

'Paradise' I really couldn't stand at the time. Thought it was a bit sellout-y and lightweight for them. Would have given 0 or something but have mellowed on it slightly over time - maybe 'Higher Power' and 'My Universe' are my least favourite now.

'Fix You' is divine although thought it'd be a bit lower and be more marmitey. I feel it is the musical equivalent of a therapy/group hug session with lots of tears. Bit churchy too. All of that stuff I love but. 8 is really good.

'Trouble' less to say but a beautiful poignant ballad and love the spiderweb lyric.

Looking at that survivor from a few years ago just now and 'Trouble' came 7th there as well. Seems to be it's fave position then :P

Oops at 'Fix You' winning on that and coming 8th here though

6. Clocks = Avg Score - 8.52 (Highest Score 11) ..ready for it // Lowest Score (5) Jessie Where, JulianT)

'Clocks' lands in 6th. It was the third release from A Rush... and gave the band their 5th consecutive top 10 hit and third from this particular era. I recevied one 11 and the lowest coming in the form of a 5 from Jessie and Julian!

5. Talk = Avg Score - 8.56 (2 11's) (Highest Score (11) Padamic Tension, Michael // Lowest Score (3) Cow P)

Coming in at 5th we have 'Talk' which was the 3rd single off X&Y and peaked at 10 in December 2005. It was built around the motif of Kraftwerks 1981 song 'Computer Love' and the video sees the band as astronauts in a black and white science fiction theme, they discover a giant dormant robot as well. This one does feel a bit higher than I'd had anticipated but not complaining as it was a 10 for me like it was for 7 others along with two 11's with Cow P giving it the lowest which was 3.

Clocks was one that was so hammered by radio at the time that I just never wanted to hear it again, which is a shame as it is good and that riff is so hypnotic.

Delighted with the Top 5 though! Brilliant to see Talk so high - I didn’t expect that but it is an exquisite composition.

4 Violet Hill = Avg Score - 8.56 (6 11's) (Highest Score (11) Michael, Iz, Smint, seven., I am Kenough, Roba // Lowest Score(4) Bjork, Cow P)

After being away for a couple of years in came Viva La Vida Or Death To All His Friends and the first single from that was... 'Violet Hill' which peaked at 8 but was overshadowed by the song that followed it a few weeks later. An interesting intro with the piano and repetitive guitar sound, the heavy marching tempo and drums also involved quite noticeably. The song was the first anti war protest song by the group too. A grand way to lead off for them and personally my fave from this era too. Scoring six 11's it positions the track at a comfy 4th on the rate countdown!

Intrigued to see how high 'Violet Hill' can go. Top 5 is already an amazing result for it!

Omg I thought it was already out!!! One of their best, and a surprisingly high result for it!!!

Talk and Violet Hill are both absolutely sublime, delighted they made the top 5.

Violet Hill might just be my ultimate fave.

Bit baffled by the success of Violet Hill, but there you go.

From my votes the top 3 should be:

11 points Viva La Vida

10 points Yellow

9 points The Scientist

But I suspect Yellow has this.
