If the Christmas songs stay in their current order this week and next, this will be the first year since permanent ACR was introduced for songs over 3 years old that none of them have reached new peaks in the Top 10.

New peaks reached in previous years:

2018 - Michael Bublé (#7), Elton John (#10)

2019 - Elton John (#8)

2020 - Mariah Carey (#1), Wham! (#1 - albeit technically 2021)

2021 - Brenda Lee (#5), Andy Williams (#9), Chris Rea (#10)

2022 - Brenda Lee (#4), Michael Bublé (#6), Bobby Helms (#7) [and away from Christmas, Kate Bush got a new peak of #2 before getting a reset]

I still think Brenda could be #3 next week, after a massive Christmas Day when she’ll be Spotify #2.

That said Sam might still be ahead on current form.

I know it's very soon to say this, but I can see 'DJ Play a Christmas Song' going on to become part of the canon in the same way 'Underneath The Tree' is in future years.

I really hope so! I can definitely see it being used in nightclubs around Christmas a lot like Underneath the tree, All I want for Xmas and One more sleep.

Creator Universe believe they can still reach Christmas Number One, even though they're currently behind by a projected 40,000 sales.
Blimey Leona Lewis is really falling off each year.

They should've done a Totally Scott-Lee styled documentary where the chart position gets revealed to them at the end, and their faces are a picture.

If the week started on the 20th sure but acr combined with 2-3 bad days I doubt it

Haha did you see what happened last year when the tracking week started on the 23rd? Starting on the 22nd it will be absolute Christmas domination.

Last top 20 for Cher was in 2001 so 22 years later would be fab for her to manage it. I did initially forget where 'I Hope You Find It' peaked but turns out it was #25!
I still find it bizarre she pushed 'I Hope You Find It', even today 'Woman's World' feels like the much more well-known track with the newspaper wig video. Yet that's completely forgotten, and probably was barely known in the first place save for an X-Factor performance.
I love that song! Agreed it deserves to be far bigger

Haven’t heard it this year and went out of my way to listen to it on my playlist and it’s as fantastic as ever! I’m the proud owner of the physical cd from when it was released!

Ariana is at number 15 tonight

Jaysus and she’s doing so well on Spotify - I’m not a huge fan of the song anyway(kinda think it does well as she’s a big star currently, that’s said ‘Christmas Tree Farm’ hasn’t had the same phenomena)!

Hard agree. Surely Woman's World would have charted higher given it's an actual bop.

Christmad Tree Farm is unlistenable and DIRE. Santa Tell Me is plodding and boring, but not offensive to the senses, and so it benefits from her name, plus the American playlists.

Until Spotify’s main playlists become less USA focused, it is only going to get worse sadly. You can see on Apple the difference having a decent playlist position can do for OMS. I am just glad she is still on the Spotify playlists unlike some other casualties like Kylie’s Santa Baby.

Hoping we get a sales update today to see where Sam and Noah are.

Kylie's version of Santa Baby is a cover though. Eartha Kitt's original should be the main version everywhere.

Very different to a 100% original song like ONS.

Which is fair, although we know Spotify don’t really care about that ideal. In this case, they just replaced Kylie with Madonna which makes little sense when Kylie’s is the established hit cover of the two.

Agree with the latter it’s just a standard Ariana pop song with jingle bells added. Christmas Tree Farm however is nice!
