Taylor Swift needs to go away not just Cruel Summer!

Cruel Summer needs to be forced onto ACR like Heat Waves and Perfect were

Madonna managing a top 10 hit in 2024?! I don't believe it!!

Why, she’s the biggest female artist of all time so combined with some modern popular artists (see what I did there) there was always a chance this could be top 10!

The trio of ‘Prada’, Cruel Summer’ & ‘Greedy’ really need to go to acr asap, they’ve been in there for ages. Perfect example of how ALL songs hitting ACR in December should be changed to songs hitting ACR in December with less than 10 weeks in the chart or something like that!

Would Murder on the Dancefloor now be 2001's biggest selling single - or getting close?

I don’t think it’s close at the moment. It Wasn’t Me is 4x platinum (unless you count that as a 2000 single but its UK release was 2001), and Can’t Get You Out Of My Head is 3x platinum.

Teenage Dirtbag is probably up there as well I would guess.

Nothing can hit ACR until week 10...!

Thanks to The Weeknd, the most-streamed artist on Spotify. Chasing the yoof seems to have worked for Madonna this time. Let's see if they stream her next single that isn't piggybacking on another artist's popularity.

It's amazing - and whilst I don't like the song very much, it's longevity has surprised me. If M can secure another Top 10 then I'm happy!

Reality for any artist is you need a good management team behind you, that will promote with videos, remixes, radio deals, physical formats and multiple versions available! Madonna’s management team don’t get that nowadays it seems, so without the mentioned it won’t happen sadly

lol nothing to do with the management

Madonna is a 65 year old lady that won't be put on any Spotify playlist with a lead solo single

if she released a comeback single this week it would be track #76 on NMF :D

I love how people are celebrating Madonna bagging a top 10 hit in 2024  I mean, yes it's a great achievement for her for sure, but let's not pretend that the song going top 10 has much to do with Madonna. It's not comparable to Kylie's Padamic achievement.

Knew Kylie would crop up in this conversation BUT again she has a team/management who knows system so that’s multiple versions, limited releases, social media posts, remixes and maybe a few performance on tv for some extra exposure and radio will play it if done correctly!

Madonna’s team do none of this nowadays using name now will not sell a single and let’s not also forget it’s “The Weekends” label not Madonna’s who are not really doing much The single has done amazing so far mainly, yes due to The Weekends name

Had a proper video been recorded and released in all physical formats it might of gone top 10 when released last summer but it didn’t get that support from the label unlike other artists who get multiple versions released etc etc to get easily into top 10!

I'm not disputing any of that, I'm just saying I don't find it an amazing achievement (assuming the song actually ends up going top 10) in the same way that it was when 'Padam Padam' went top 10. Sure, if Madonna releases a good lead single from her next project and her label/team do what Kylie's did and it goes top 10 then I'll be the first one to be jumping up and down! But a single going on top 10 on which Madonna happens to feature is keeping me firmly on my seat. That's the point I'm making!
I think it can still be amazing without having to be on the level of Padam Padam. It's obviously not the same thing but it doesn't *have* to be on the same level to be noteworthy and worth getting excited about in my view! Madonna getting anywhere near the top 10 in 2023/24 is pretty wild as she's only reached the top 40 one other time in the last decade.

Cool to see The Smile starting off ahead but have to assume it won't be hard for The Reytons to mobilise their fanbase enough to close such a small gap :( Surprised at Future Islands being as high as #5, I thought we might have an all new top 5 at least in the mids but was guessing it'd be Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes at #5, only one place off though!

NewDad getting midweek top 40 is cool too, hope they can stay top 100.
