I think it can still be amazing without having to be on the level of Padam Padam. It's obviously not the same thing but it doesn't *have* to be on the same level to be noteworthy and worth getting excited about in my view! Madonna getting anywhere near the top 10 in 2023/24 is pretty wild as she's only reached the top 40 one other time in the last decade.

Totally agree - why is anyone bringing up Kylie? It's irrelevant - no records have been broken (Kylie only has 35 top 10s). Hopefully Madonna is about to get her 64 th Top 10 single, which is amazing.

Why, she’s the biggest female artist of all time so combined with some modern popular artists (see what I did there) there was always a chance this could be top 10!

The trio of ‘Prada’, Cruel Summer’ & ‘Greedy’ really need to go to acr asap, they’ve been in there for ages. Perfect example of how ALL songs hitting ACR in December should be changed to songs hitting ACR in December with less than 10 weeks in the chart or something like that!

Of all time yes, byt radio and playlist ageism means she hasn't had a top ten sinceee Gimme All Your Lovin?

Given how well James Arthur’s tour has sold I expected him to be number 1, but I guess there’s not much of a link between chart performance and ticket sales anymore

Official Singles/Albums Chart Update Top 100

Full update now here!

I think there is to an extent. Big live acts still tend to have decent-selling albums, even if they don’t have much of a presence in the singles’ chart now.

The Music Week report gives the same figure for Smile and The Reytons at 1 and 2 with 9,265 but if you add the physical, downloads and stream totals for Smile, you get 9,468.

Oh very close between the entire top 3 albums then! I guess as predicted just by looking at the first week sales of their first albums which were all very close together too (when combining The Smile's first digital and physical weeks). The Reytons and James Arthur are both a few hundred ahead of the Monday midweeks of their previous albums. Maybe all 3 potentially going for a 15k+ debut.

Tom Odell also looking like he should be safe for a top 5 debut but possibly falling to #5 behind Noah?

I've never really warmed to 'Popular' much but will be quite happy for it to go top 10 just for it being quite a momentous occasion... for Playboi Carti to get a top 10 hit :cheer:

Are we actually making that YG Marley song a big hit then? *_*

Also I see the Lyrical Lemonade album is being allowed to chart on the main album chart but is pretty low down at the moment anyway.

Gruff Rhys #9 in the albums :cheer: thanks OCC for conveniently leaving that one out of your article you heathens x

James Arthur only a few hundred copies behind the top 2 then, wouldn't surprise me if he leapfrogs them both come Friday. The Smile would obviously be the preferred option of the three but it depends on if they make any kind of campaign or push for #1

I wonder how far the Bob Marley movie can take his greatest hits when it’s released on valentine’s day.

There will also be a couple of Bob Marley shows on BBC4 on Friday 16th as part of reggae night.

Should give legend a nice climb again.

Top 3 albums is close but I don't know why but I think James Arthur might take it on Friday.

Nice to see Becky Fodera rebound and the Last Dinner Party should definitely remain top 40 by Friday

Some acts link the two, if you pre order the Liam Gallagher/John Squire LP before tomorrow you get an access code to a pre sale of the tour.

James Arthur probably a lot stronger on streaming than those two so I can see him getting the #1 by the end of the week. I generally like him and didn’t even know until right now that he just released an album so his numbers probably more likely to grow but very close three way race
Happy to see Megan at #51! With her climbs on Apple Music & Spotify, hopefully she can climb into the top 40 at least come Friday!
