Congratulations to Sovarasma. That's a fitting reward for such a fantastic hosting job.

This is not the first time Rolloland has finished last, but at least we qualified. Thanks to everyone who gave points to 'Rave The Planet'.

Woop woop another fab winner from you Jack. Knocking it out the park thus year and we're only in March haha. Can't be stated how phenomenal your hosting has been. There has to be an elite award of something since you probably can't be nominated for the standard host award again as far as I know because nothing will beat this sublime hosting! Flawless.

I pointed 4 of the top 5 so hooray. I did like Aeroche's as well so happy for them to achieve their highest in a long while now!

Also nice to see Eastovka score another top 10 too. Shame for INXS just missing out but again still fantastic for that.

Yass for Zanmatony too. Happy that's done so well as it was a mega tune.

Some good stuff down in the bottom 10 that I either pointed or really liked notably East Rukahavian again which I gave 13 points to.

and 28th I will gladly accept.. was a surprise it Qualifying in a way so chuffed to be within top 30 ^_^

Greenfroze winning semi 1 and then finishing 30th in the final! Not quite the record (Spacetrain - Salsa Me {FSR Rontvia 116} came 36th after winning its semi) but only the second song to finish in the 30s after a semi win. At least I can say that I beat one of the semi winners  (although looks like I had quite a regression from the semi myself x).

edit: also just realised Singerpurear only scraped through semi 1 because of Math's non-voting but then went on to finish in the top 20, more than 10 places ahead of the semi winner!! although Math did give them 13 in the final so they probably would have qualified anyway

SURPRISE PUMPKIN ATTACK FOR ALL YOU FILTHY THREE-LEGGED PIGS~!!!!! •̀ω•́

Trifoski would like to apologize and fully accept our slap on the wrist for the incident that just occurred. We had a truck full of pumpkins parked outside the venue for....reasons, but a certain SOMEONE obviously drove it into the venue when they weren't supposed to!!

......happy halloween everyone? :D

Anyways, a Top 10 finish...what is going on here?? I'll keep the speech short but we're super thankful for the support, and we hope you guys check out more from Xiu Xiu, they're an interesting group with a fantastic back catalogue x

Congrats Sovarasma!!!

Listen to our robbed entry again right now, keep it in mind for when you need to give top points to a song in the end-of-year contest!

Glad to have been (arguably) right about Hendinia being the highest pop song (I mean Sovarasma is a pop song too but it's wacky enough that we can probably consider it borderline alt for BuzzJack xx), was surprised to see some predictions being somewhat on the pessimistic side by Hendinia standards as I thought it sounded like the kind of song that'd hoover up the points and even ended up getting a couple from me. (edit: although actually looking back there were quite a few predictions for it to win so maybe I'm talking out of my arse ddd - I'm sure a few people on SyncTube said it didn't sound like a winner at least). Granted, me liking pure pop songs sometimes curses them to not do particularly well ddd, but glad that wasn't the case this time. Also voted for Aeroche in 3rd place, I was obviously way off with my anti-hype for that then but happy to have been even though I will now just sit and cry about being the only person who sent Vegyn and wasn't rewarded with a medal position for it :kink: and Bøtanikkä was a commiseration for me so also glad to see that in the top 5, I did pin that as a likely big hit but maybe not a win contender so hit the nail on the head with that at least! Can't say I really see the hype for this Suki Waterhouse song (it's ok but nothing on 'Good Looking' imo) but WD Pestolia matching their best result to date x

The bottom half of the top 10 is where it's at though, voted for 4 out of 5 of those and 3 of those did better than I'd have predicted (would never have called Séyetana and Eastovka being anywhere near this high and quite surprised at Trifoski being that high too), Kathaldazia a bit more expected but them serving the quality as always  Aw at Bronzil ending up just missing out so another one that my prediction was a bit off for (sorry for the false hope especially as you were as high as 2nd at one point during the reveal oop!)

Also yay for Singerpurear, Ajanaeda and Skall all making the top 20 (still shook at discovering earlier this was the first time I'd ever voted for Ajanaeda) and a decent enough result for Scotland 2, I do wonder if some other songs from the album might have done a bit better though! I'd probably have sent them myself if they'd not previously been in Unknown Pleasures, and would have gone with either 'coelacanth' or 'rare animal'. Only 3 songs I voted for finishing below them - Fljótavík and Cumulonimbia both lower than I'd have predicted (I actually briefly thought FLJ might have been a winner contender at one point iirc oops, good thing I didn't post that ), and Suedeonia definitely deserved better but that was one I was just happy to see qualify at all so pleased enough with it not being right at the bottom.

Didn't get boosted quite as far back up the table as I hoped by the last batch of votes but at least back to the 20s, I'll take it (though I'd have preferred 30th for reasons that will be clear in the 'what final positions have you achieved' thread x). Still doing better than my equivalent result from last year again, starting this year 20-29 compared to 39-35 in 2023 :jump: thanks again to the supporters, especially the two shiny golds from Nate and Joops

Dipped down from projected 7th based on semi results whoops - but I did retain all of the people who voted for me in the semi except Danæviia (3 to 0) so I guess it's just a case of it having been a very good semi draw! Hoping I'll stumble across a more inspired entry for next month and not have to confirm so last second but at the moment I am still lacking in ideas again oop x

Never realized how low the scores are near the top, do we have a list of the lowest scoring winners by ratio of points available?

Hervé and Zebra Katz - Tear The House Up {N DNTN 65} still holds the record winning with 24.37% of possible points. 'Ich Kündige' got 26.26% which is the 9th lowest ~

Oooh quite an even field. Glad to see Herbilore gave points to 4 of the top 5

Can appreciate the uniqueness of the winning entry. Congrats :)

Honestly wouldn't surprise me if we've all given Sovarasma 18 just to ensure we don't have to leave

dandy* called it correctly didn’t he!

Well I believe some prophecies have already been fulfilled for 2024 but who knows what else might happen yet.

Except Sovarasma actually only got one 18!

(that's the 12th time a song has won with only one top score, still yet to have a winner which got none...)

I've finally eaten my dinner and cleared my mind up but what an evening this has been for me :o

I'm absolutely knackered so don't mind me babbling nonsense here x

I was not expecting a 2nd win at all! I was really trying to have fun this half-year with some quirky and alternative music but Ich kündige immediately hits me as the sort of crazy Sovarasman entry I'd send, and without a doubt I had this prioritised for this month! Thank you so so so much for all the love and hype towards this song, albeit not as big as King of the Slugs! Really huge thank you to Freeze for 18 points, Iz, Ansel, perrobueno for 15 points, Silas and Lex (finally!! :kink: ) for 13 points, and MANY MANY MORE outside of the medalist positions!! I wouldn't have done it without your huge support

Second of all, I have to thank our fellow moderators for their wonderful support this contest, and especially Bre for the spiritual support behind the scenes  Hosting a BJSC edition has always been my dream and I did not think I would get this opportunity at all. I wanted to make BJSC 162 a special one for all of you as well. It was quite an ambitious plan with all the graphics, postcards reveal shows, interval acts and results. Most importantly, they wouldn't have been possible without your participation and interaction! I want to thank Colm for lending a hand with some stuff too and of course the wonderful Buzzjack Presents... ad! I really hope y'all enjoyed this edition and had a lot of fun!

Last but not least, I want to thank everyone for your immense support throughout the contest. I wasn't able to reply to every single compliment this edition but I had read all of them and they all made everything worthwhile honestly! Your words really encouraged me to make this as good as possible. Sorry that the results show kinda dragged on in the end and I will plan the grand final results show better next time. Sorry if I seemed annoying with the DMs in the last couple of weeks particularly with regards to voting reminders. I really hope you don't mind them x Anyways, I will definitely look back at BJSC 162 with pride, not just the stuff that has been carefully crafted but also your lovely and kind words throughout the edition. It is an edition I dedicate to every single one of you and hope this contest is not about competing for the best position, but about discovering hidden gems and building a community. Hopefully, we'll get more returnees and debutants next edition though we have to say goodbye to some nations. Of course, we really want you to stay for more contests to come!

Good night and thank you for everything

Double congrats to uhsting, first for the outstanding hosting effort and second for the back-to-back win!

Unfortunately the top 10's pretty far from my tastes but I did enjoy Hendinia, Aeroche, Pestolia and especially Botanikka so a solid enough top 5, and Dobago got a point from me as well. I'm very happy that Greenfroze won Semi 1 despite their regression in the final. And Ajanaeda was a very pleasant surprise, not one I thought would make the top 20 but a great discovery and comeback entry - I hope you have more entries planned Josh!

Not surprised to see my 18 (East Rukahavian) near the bottom, but glad enough other countries liked 'Riptide' enough to give them a respectable triple-digit score. Justice for quite a few countries this time, Rontvia, Ben's Sanctuary, and especially Fljotavik and Nelionoir!

I won't complain at being bottom 5, it was a risky entry, 118 is a decent score and 10th in the semi is a nice consolation! Still off to a much better start than I had last year. Thanks especially to Singerpurear for the gold and Land of DW for the bronze!

Hervé and Zebra Katz - Tear The House Up {N DNTN 65} still holds the record winning with 24.37% of possible points. 'Ich Kündige' got 26.26% which is the 9th lowest ~
Yeah I was thinking it was somewhere close to “Try To Fight” or “Ignis” but WHEW. From one of the biggest scoring (record breaking) winners to one of the lowest scoring :o congrats uhsting! Most of the top 10 to my tastes as well, glad Botanikka managed to hold on to top 5 and Seyetana got a huge smash out of this. Ben’s Sanctuary was done so dirty! Had that as a possible potential but wanted to try something more risky and it placing so low is pretty criminal.

#MidLupus back with a vengeance I see (even down to the gross overhype - it’s starting to become a pattern you guys 🧐) but considering the semi placement I think it was a MIRACLE it got through with that semi makeup  Glad to try something more risky but I’m taking it as a sign that y’all don’t want it and it’ll be back to ol’ reliable next month. Thanks so much to those who gave it medal positions, especially Dobbo for the gold!

Not the double winner! After this hosting, deserved tho

Back to the drawing board for Jupiterdonia but we are tempted by another retro one for March...

Just spent my morning catching up and loved the presentation! Congrats on another win! Can we stay here for another month pls???
Honestly wouldn't surprise me if we've all given Sovarasma 18 just to ensure we don't have to leave

Called it - kinda!

Congratulations on the double! We’re all majorly relieved that none of us have to follow up this contest xx
