From the FCP thread as this gives some context into how everything is selling when you factor in the premium/ad-funded ratios, and all platforms together:

Sales since Monday's update

13,600 Ariana Grande - we can't be friends

12,603 Benson Boone

12,343 Beyoncé

12,158 Djo

11,108 Teddy Swims

Ariana's in a very strong position for #1 next week at this point, otherwise it's all close. Benson's obviously been pulling away from Beyoncé, but Djo's not far behind and he's on his way up, so I think if anyone's likely to challenge Ariana it'll be him, especially if his playlisting improves by Friday. Could be an interesting battle next week!

the interesting thing is that if you look at the Mids data from Mon-Wed and then you compare to the corresponding data from Spotify, Djo is the #1 that did best but only 4th from the Mids data

and Djo did > 250,000 more than Beyonce but he's below her

guess that means Djo is having a bit of the same problem as Benson and getting a bad ratio of free/premium

Djo might be #1 on Spotify but he's #7 on Apple (and has only entered the top 10 there in the last few days), while he wasn't charting on video streaming at all last week, so he's lagging in other regards. The ratio might also be a factor but hard to tell!

Wow at scared to start finally taking off, it’s been hovering at the lower end of the top 40 for a while now so glad to see it’s finally breaking out at last. Fingers crossed it can chart in the top 10 next week.
I do love the chart currently! Lots of new hits and it’s not as stale as it has been recently! more of this plzzz

It would be a bit refreshing to see We Can't Be Friends and the still relatively fresh Djo hit battling it out in the top 2 next week.

I'm not sure too much staleness has dissipated on the whole though.

There is definitely some dead wood to clear, but nice to see the top of the charts being interesting for once. Certainly beats the situation we were in just over a month ago where it was just stick season, Prada, greedy, cruel summer and MOTD (Lovin On Me before that) hogging the top 5.

Great numbers for Ariana and to see 9 songs still top 40 almost a week in is great. Happy for Djo too although I wonder if it would be doing this well if the TikTok black out of universal acts/songwriters wasn’t limiting choice on the app.

I don’t think this is the reason at all. Free Spotify is very ugly to use these days. I don’t think it’s about benson. Teddy Swims seems to outperform his numbers and he probably has other versions of his song(live versions etc) that get an extra 400-500k streams per week across all platforms that we don’t factor in

I'm positive is the free/premium ratio

we've seen it looooots of times in the past, lots and lots

especially with artists that cater to young + also r'n'b/rap artists

Benson numbers make sense in comparison to everyone else except teddy swims so not really following your logic. Try and use Spotify without premium it’s near impossible to play songs you want to

Hoping Ariana gets some physicals for next week.

She does have a strings version and an acapella version on iTunes at the moment so hopefully those also go to streaming sites. It’s too good for it to just miss out on #1!

On Spotify he is, on Apple he is still at 6

I have Ariana at 5 there

I really like both Djo’s and Ariana’s songs so I’m happy with either of them replacing Beyoncé at #1.

Beyoncé really seems to have a good grip on Apple Music and iTunes. It’s only Spotify letting her down really.
