Wait until Ed drops an actual album, Autumn Variations doesn't count. He'll rightfully stream far more than what Beyonce's getting for her current lead singles.

I know I said I was done replying but this is too tempting. Was Subtract an actual album to you? Do you realise Beyoncé’s lowest debuting track from Cowboy Carter has more streams (192,336) than the biggest track from Subtract (192,148)?

Welcome to Buzzjack! Starting things off with a bang by the looks of things

'=' was his last "pop" album as such, but even then IIRC the streams weren't near those of 'Cowboy Carter'.

You must mean another Ed Sheeran, not the one who flopped with his last album :D

Anyway aside from the numbers, I have to say i'm being grabbed by almost nothing from this album so far sadly.

Bodyguard is easily the highlight on first listen. My biggest disappointment is in the Jolene cover and Miley duet which I had the most hype for and are incredibly meh.

You mean like his actual album - before then which had less hits and sold less than Renaissance?

Anyway I'll end that there. On a different note quite a number of songs showing promising climbs on spotify/streaming despite the Beyoncé album bomb!

Mark Ambor - "Belong Together"

The Blessed Madonna - "Happier (ft. Clementine Douglas)"

Rudimental, Skepsis - "Green & Gold (ft. Charlotte Plank & Riko Dan)"

Should see all these get new peaks in the chart when the OCC rules are applied.

Not too sure. Ed Sheeran had 5 year period where anything he did got crazy numbers but that time period is over and there isn’t really a demand for more ed Sheeran

It appears his last album was such a bomb I hadn't realised it had come out. I was thinking his album with Bad Habits on was his latest album. But, I'll bow to statistics.

Did wonder when the album for Eyes Closed was coming out as that's the only song I've heard of on it. Not sure he'll bothered though given how much he made from his other albums.

These threads become VERY tiresome VERY quickly every time someone has some success with something. I'll come back in a couple of days when things have died down.

He's released two albums since 'Eyes Closed'! '-' and 'Autumn Variations'. Both were acoustic-ish though, and his next album will be back to "poppy" pop.

On the contrary, I’m quite enjoying seeing some actual discussion in here and I’m finding it fairly amusing, so I encourage it.

Both Beyoncé and Ed Sheeran remain superstars. It's not a competition.

I agree. When it doesn't get out of hand (and I don't think it has), I always find the discussion interesting.

Y'all please take a step back for a moment, let's get some stuff in perspective before this thread goes any crazier than it already has. Beyoncé is slaying at the moment, not many artists can manage this kind of takeover with an album, and that's really all we need to know. Is she doing better or worse than others? Well, does it matter? It doesn't make her less successful if others are doing better, so there's no real need to compare to anyone other than herself (and it's clear she's doing better than she did with RENAISSANCE).

I'd rather not lock this thread until the next Spotify update but I will if we can't discuss things sensibly and politely with each other, and without trying to stir the pot.

In preparation for Swift's album coming out in a few weeks I thought these figures might be of interest. Goes back to 1 Jan 2017 which the chart site goes back to. Beyonce clear well below the big boy league though. What I was more surprised at was Sprinter doing higher streams than driver's license or good 4 u.

I tried to find the context regarding this week here, but failed.

On a positive note Willie Nelson at 90 must be one of the oldest (if not the oldest) artists to get so high on the Spotify chart with “new” material, right?

One of without a doubt.

don’t believe so

Ariana’s grandmother I believe had the record for oldest person on a spotify chart hit at the age of 98

I don't think it did but there was definitely a brief appearance in the top 200 for Ariana Grande's nan the other week who was only a couple of years younger.

edit: beaten to it x
