April 30, 20241 yr I don't think she even knows or cares about what's happening in the UK singles chart right now, dude. Also wouldn't the CD singles be the work of her label rather than her personally? I remember you levelled the same accusation at Ari as being "narcissistic" for some reason (and also, may I add, without a hint of irony) Interesting. Just a thought: are all 'too successful' women narcissists?
April 30, 20241 yr Couldn’t it be argued that Espresso just took off because the song is instantly catchy? Same way as Too Sweet by Hozier. It entered high on its first day and then just kept climbing.
April 30, 20241 yr I have to disagree here, she wasn't well know until she started touring with Taylor , the date where Sabrina couldn't do her set list it was all over the paper here saying how she joined Taylor on stage. The was another artcle complaining about Sabrina saying it was too saucy. Without that she wouldn't be in the top 20. I tried looking for her past chart positions with her singles but nothing, I think one of her albums charted at 43 here. Sabrina has had a cult fanbase for years! She toured last summer and all of her UK dates sold out and she had 3 top 40 singles before Espresso. Supporting Taylor on tour (only on the South America and Asia dates, btw) and a few news articles about it here is not the reason this song is doing well, it's just a great pop song that has clearly hit with the public, and it helps that its gone viral on Tiktok. I doubt the majority of people streaming it are even aware she supported Taylor. Sure, she's gotten some extra exposure from Taylor, but to say she "wasn't well known" until she started touring with Taylor is just factually incorrect!
April 30, 20241 yr Both Charli XCX and Camila Cabello supported Taylor on her last tour and it wasn't until year's later Charli broke out. I don't think it's fair to put touring with Taylor down as the reason Sabrina is performing so well. The song is just super catchy.

April 30, 20241 yr To say she wouldn't be top 20 if she wasn't Taylor's support act is just mind-bogglingly daft, although going by previous form that's not entirely off brand.
April 30, 20241 yr In other Taylor Swift news, recently been discovered she invented the wheel and was the first person to make fire!
April 30, 20241 yr Two Natasha Bedingfield song in the top 25, I scream! The These Words remix seems to be on the high, how far could it go you reckon?
April 30, 20241 yr In other Taylor Swift news, recently been discovered she invented the wheel and was the first person to make fire!  Swifties and their parasocial relationship with their queen!!
April 30, 20241 yr Yeah I do believe 'Espresso' is doing so well is because it's genuinely a popular hit with people and perfect for the summer. Acts that previously had lower top 40 hits before can nab a sudden hit out of nowhere if it's the right song at the moment.

I don't think it's fair to put touring with Taylor down as the reason Sabrina is performing so well. The song is just super catchy. I agree with you on the point about Sabrina not taking off purely because of Taylor, but also, Charli had 3 top 10 hits in the US including a #1 (Fancy with Iggy Azalea) before touring with Taylor, and Boom Clap was a massive hit worldwide in 2014. She broke out long before the Rep tour!

April 30, 20241 yr Does this mean Post Malone's next era is going to be massive because of his current association with Taylor?
April 30, 20241 yr Does this mean Post Malone's next era is going to be massive because of his current association with Taylor? ‘I Had Some Help’ with Morgan Wallen is releasing on May 10th (supposedly). It’s been all over my TikTok feed for ages. It’ll definitely be massive in America and hopefully here too.
April 30, 20241 yr Does this mean Post Malone's next era is going to be massive because of his current association with Taylor? And Florence ;)
April 30, 20241 yr Did I understand right? So Sabrina's 955,478 streams yesterday in the UK are because all those British people saw her at Taylor's tour in South America?
April 30, 20241 yr Author Yep, but then she had several years of bombing before a commercial resurgence in 2022. by "bombing" you mean purposefully putting out less accessible albums/mixtapes (while still scoring the occasional hit) and building a proper fanbase? :kink:

I don't think it's fair to put touring with Taylor down as the reason Sabrina is performing so well. The song is just super catchy. Taylor wasn’t anywhere near as big as she is now compared to 2018, her last tour came after a decline in her success, Rep had little longetivity. Taylor in 2023/2024 is the biggest she or anyone this past 10 years has been. The tour Sabrina was the starter act is the biggest grossing tour of all time and the biggest demand a tour has seen in so many years. Edited April 30, 20241 yr by BellyClarkson
April 30, 20241 yr Yep, but then she had several years of bombing before a commercial resurgence in 2022. Lover was an initial flop compared to her previous successes id agree, but her resurgence started in 2020 with folklore, it had longetivity remaining in the charts (no huge first week sales but it kept her around)
