May 17, 20242 yr 'Smalltown Boy' entering just as 'Bad Habits' is about to drop out of the YTD top 100 - coincidence? :kink: Smalltown Boy is being used in a trailer for a film - can't remember which film. But a version of the song was being used on a trailer the last 2 times I went to the cinema
May 17, 20242 yr Smalltown Boy is being used in a trailer for a film - can't remember which film. But a version of the song was being used on a trailer the last 2 times I went to the cinema The film is Love Lies Bleeding
May 17, 20242 yr The film is Love Lies Bleeding Small town Boy is great and all but why call a film that and not use the Elton John song of the same name ?! :(
May 17, 20242 yr The film is Love Lies Bleeding Thanks :D Knew someome would know. My only take out from watching the trailer was the almost Drum and Bass version of STB
May 17, 20242 yr So no chart show next week because they are really going big on One Big Weekend. When the chart moved to Fridays it eliminated the previous problem of a five minute slot during OBW when it was still on a Sunday and now that problem is returning from this year. Can't understand the station sometimes. Edited May 17, 20242 yr by zenon
May 17, 20242 yr After a few months of us having things very good, for me now all the songs in the top 4 sit somewhere between boring and awful.
May 17, 20242 yr I've not heard 'I Had Some Help' in full yet but from a few clips I've heard it sounded moderately better than I feared although still probably not really my thing. I'm not a massive fan of 'Espresso' either but happy for it to block Morgan Wallen from getting a UK #1 x Yay for Tommy in the top 3 - I'm surprised to see it getting some strong negative reactions here, not that I expect BuzzJack to love it or anything but I would have thought it'd be a song people would be neutral on at worst. It's one of my favourite hits of the year so far though so hoping it can still contend for #1 x (and re the person who said it's 'not catchy enough', speak for yourself, it's stuck in my head all the time the last couple of weeks). Also noting that with 'Not Like Us' rising to #6, Kendrick is back to having 100% of his top 10 hits peaking between #4 and #7, 9 of them now! And glad to see Nemo as high as #18, the song overall is not a huge favourite for me but still pretty good and I like what it represents re: non-binary identity and whatnot. Considering it wasn't a huge televote fave and sales at the top end of the chart are so high right now (plus interest in Eurovision dropping a bit this year with Sam Ryder's success becoming more of a distant memory / not being in the UK this year / Israel controversy etc. etc.) it's done really well to pull off a similar chart result to 'ZITTI E BUONI'. + with 'Teresa & Maria' sneaking in at #100, the Ukrainian entry has charted in the UK 4 years in a row!
May 17, 20242 yr Next week could be interesting if chart show still gone be on a big weekend It's not on. As already mentioned in this thread several times.
May 17, 20242 yr Tommy at #3 :cheeseblock: Next #1 I beg.... Not Charli stalling at #41 tho :nocheer:
May 17, 20242 yr I think thee's a tiktok dance challenge with Smalltown Boy, might be also why it's back It was even on the news
May 18, 20242 yr The fact that Joost was skipped really frustrated me. That's probably the only chance a 30-second gabber sound made it to the radio. Shame that Macklemore didn't debut in the top 40 too, but I don't think it would've been impactful either as they might've skipped the song as well.
May 19, 20242 yr A film on Amazon prime starring Anne Hathaway called The Idea Of You is the reason why As It Was was given a reset and also, we have not had a British artist having a #1 single this year
May 20, 20242 yr As far as I can see, As It Was isn’t used in the film. I was watching the chart run down on MTV and the woman announcer explained that that was the reason why it was back
May 20, 20242 yr I was watching the chart run down on MTV and the woman announcer explained that that was the reason why it was back Yeah, I don’t think it’s used in the film (it’s not on any soundtrack articles/playlists I can see), but the film has some other connection to Harry it seems. I’m not sure what that is though
May 20, 20242 yr It's been even explained in the news the movie is a fanfiction based on Harry, they changed the names but it started as a Harry fanfiction so the main character is a sorta Harry but not really cos it's all made up
May 23, 20242 yr Oh it was the worst football match I’ve ever seen! You must have missed England vs Algeria at the 2010 WC then
May 23, 20242 yr The fact that Joost was skipped really frustrated me. That's probably the only chance a 30-second gabber sound made it to the radio. Rotterdam Termination Source “Poing” made the Top 40 for 3 consecutive weeks in 1992, and they played it each time (skip to 1:08:00 to hear it being played). I mean at 148BPM it's quite slow for gabber but I think it counts. YylE4Z3wxgU
