Yes Ash were ahead by votes, Spacehog would be ahead in higher scores (although it has to go down to 8s or 7s if I remember correctly)

Very pleased with that result, I was feeling sure I wouldn't get time to vote but I did so as soon as I submitted my BJSC votes on the weekend once I got back from Norway.

 

Thanks Bré for the gold medal, I am glad I sent something that fitted with the theme as I wanted to go for a band I wouldn't usually think to send for something like this, plus Ash have many good singles, it was nice to go for a lesser known one by them.

Congrats Dobbo :cheer: I discovered that song mere weeks ago when somebody used it for the 30 Day Song Challenge thread in The Lounge and was happy to be reminded of it once more, a very good winner. I'm pleased that my gold medal did as well as third place also (those lyrics... </3), my silver is in the top 5 and bronze just about scraped into the top 10, woo.

 

My own result... yeah, not brilliant :lol: maybe deserved for a last minute find, but I did think an entry with some Welsh language lyrics could be something a bit different in the line-up and I of course appreciate their relevant chart trivia too. Thanks to those who did point it, especially fiesta for the silver medal.

Wow finally conquering another contest :o never thought it could happen! Thanks very much to everyone who pointed Rialto, I did think it may have been a bit cheap when I entered it based on being a top 40 hit but it was certainly not a song I knew prior and clearly that was the same for several others.

 

Glad Lava just sneaked into the top 10, clear highlight of the contest for me. Great that my other 2 faves both finished in the top 5 as well :cheer:

 

Thanks to dandy* for this edition, it was not a genre I was all too clued up on but have made some great discoveries here.

 

And I'm not exactly sure what sort of schedule the mods run for this contest, there's a possibility I may be able to host the next edition depending on when etc. but certainly no guarantees.

I’ve only just got round to reading this. Thanks for all the votes for Salad (and, of course, Suede). I wasn’t sure Salad would be allowed as their singer was Dutch. I saw them live several times in the 90s. I think the only ones I would have seen more would be Suede, the Manics, Ash and Pulp. Good to see some quirky Welsh entries from the Super Furries and Gorkys. They both released some great songs.

I’m hosting as the second place last time and I have various life issues over the past month or so. My fellow mods are aware.

 

I hope to start the next contest late September/early October.
