Second place. My life as a bridesmaid is RESTORED *.*

Thanks to all the voters. When I saw Alizée in the lineup I thought 'damn, it's going to get overshadowed by that', so I'm really happy to see both in the top three (as that was my favourite easily).

All hail the all French top three.

Ooh so Chez was behind my top pointer! Thank you for a very dreamy discovery

Congrats Jim, great winning song :cheer: yay if I've just about escaped bottom 5 at the last minute

Thank you Wardy for a fab hosting job ^_^

Well done Jim on your first win. :cheer:

Some great songs in amongst that top ten and 7th is also very good for my debut in this contest too.

Paulina and Kerli were robbed though :(

hey I didn't come last

'Pray' is probably my favourite mid-00s J-Pop song that I could have thought of off the top of my head, thank you all very much for getting me to the edge of the top 10 I'll TAKE THAT MATE

Some really incredible songs here, particularly the French ones but good effort from most, glad I got roped into this one x (ty Wardy)

Congrats to Jim with Phoenix, that's a great song and despite seeing their name around a lot I don't think I've listened to it for years.

Thanks for hosting Wardy and mods for the concept and fun name. The quality on display here really surprised and impressed me. My 12 and 10 are as good as anything I've discovered from a great edition of BJSC, and I loved at least half of the pack. Some good songs I already knew that I hadn't heard in a very long time too.

Paulina Rubio and Melanie Blatt really deserved a lot more though, obsessed with the former, and I used to love the latter, shame it's not on Spotify.

Thank you to everyone for taking part, and congratulations to the winner, jimwatts, we are delighted to award you with your first widget! :cheer:

Would've been quite the double bluff had I actually sent Phoenix after claiming in the thread I considered another song from them :kink: I still prefer Lisztomania, but 1901 is a great indie pop throwback and a very easy standout here, congrats on a first song contest win, Jim!

...and thank you for sending me into the top 10 last minute :cheeseblock: I wasn't sure how this would go down as it did sound quite different to everything else, but very pleased with the votes, including four top 3s <3 I discovered this on an underground Synthpop playlist a while back but it's really re-clicked with me now, the nu-disco production is gorgeous and I love how the song's vocals grow more and more vulnerable as it goes along in line with the building production.

Pretty solid top 10 overall, though a shame that MEG just missed out as my favourite discovery (I was sure that was Iz and Tommy Heavenly6 Bre, but other way round!), I was worried I would find ten a struggle to get to, but was quite happy with all my votes in the end x

Thanks for hosting, Wardy, I look forward to more of these should they continue!

Oh wow what a finish with me getting another silver and gold back to back (that and the previous pair accounting for nearly 3/4 of my total points haha) - thanks very much Chez and Jim! And even more satisfyingly I actually did a straight points swap with both of you *.* As I said in my votes PM I did already know '1901' quite well and it'd always be hard for anything to beat it, so although it's not a discovery for me that's still a great winner, congrats Jim especially with it being your first win in any of the contests. And the Sally Shapiro track ended up jumping out as my favourite discovery, I had it behind Tommy heavenly6 on my initial ranking but this one grew on me more, some lovely lowkey synthpop.

Wow at the all French top 3, normally would be sounding off about that but after the election results the other day I'm a little more forgiving of the Frenchness for the moment :teresa: and I do really like both of the top 2 songs there, the Alizée one was also decent (didn't notice it sneaking up so high in the results tuntil the very end though!) Also pleased at the results there for Helena Paparizou and Hi Fashion plus Jessy and Sally Shapiro both sneaking into the top 10. Me and Iz sticking together as the Asian bloc just outside of the top 10, similar to the Spanish/Portuguese bloc sticking together in midtable in the last PFSC funnily enough. Happy to debut with a top half finish, something I am still yet to achieve in the other retro song contest after 5 attempts  Very surprised to see Kerli finishing so low oops, like I said I am quite sure it would have smashed had it not been vetoed in BJSC back in the day but maybe we're not so here for that sound in current year oop!

Thanks for the hosting Wardy, intrigued to see where we go with themes for future editions x

(if I may be annoying as I am wont to be, I suppose there's not exactly a hard rule that it must be this way but tiebreaks in all of the other contests - apart from the semis in BJSC - are done by most votes, which would flip over all 3 of those tiebreaks)

Lol I gave no points to the top 4!

Thanks to all who gave me points, especially CowP for the 12!

Sorry I keep doing that same thing each time I host, I must stop making this mistake!

Also, please consider me for hosting a BJSC spin-off soon, I've surely earned my right to have my hosting ban lifted (despite having never hosted in BJSC before).

WOW

I had not pegged this as a possible first contest win :o I was a bit stuck for what to send, so went through my iPod and this was the only thing that came up that hadn't been a sizeable chart hit and more or less fit the theme! I wasn't aware of its huge stream count or BJSC DNQ history, and thought it might sit out of place for having male vocals being too indie, but couldn't pass up the chance to give it a go! I discovered it from a best songs of the 2000s countdown back in 2011 and have since established it as one of my favourites of the era.

Thank you so much to the 16 voters, most of all Jade for the bronze, Cody, Jester and Meekul for silvers, and Julian, Bré and Chez for golds! Not sure if it was a discovery to more than half of you, but delighted for the support for Phoenix nonetheless. Happy to see my own silver from Najoua Belyzel in second (great discovery, apols Rich for my less obscure entry denying you a win) and Alizée in third (a first Buzzjack contest podium spot for Julian I think!)

Thank you Wardy for hosting this (apols again for the last hour vote, I had most of my favourites established while I was away last week, but only really had last night to settle on the order) - hope there'll be another issue before too long!

(oh my, just realised I might be expected to host :drama: if so I will, but keep me posted!)

It seems in a lot of occurrences that I send acts touted to *apparently* do really well only for them to heavily underperform in the end :kink: :kink: :kink:

How will I recover from this? :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock:

Sorry Cody I'm coming for the REAL flop title :P

Such as? (genuine question, I don't immediately remember any others x)
