"Jasmine... It's me, your brother...Josh."

This line felt so ridiculous when we heard him say it on the phone originally, but the context mentioned today - that he had got her number off her last foster parents - made so much sense that he would have said exactly something like that if it was the first time he had spoken to her in a decade.

So was that the intention all along...?

Or just the writers saving some rubbish original dialogue?

Chelsea is incredibly under used so it was lovely to see her be that support for George today. Nicola is such a tough nut to crack but George doesn't let that wash with him so I'm looking forward to the two of them parenting together.

I can’t be doing with Zack and Barney. It was a stupid twist they’re trying to make work now. Maybe if Zack and Barney had bonded somehow previous to the reveal then I’d be ok with it. But it was literally Zack finding out and then deciding he had to ‘have’ Barney like he’s a piece of property. Barney has also had so few scenes with Nicola and Harry recently given all The family drama it just feels off.

Speaking of Chelsea too, great to see her having a storyline but remember when it looked like her and Zack would get together and then then just pivoted to him and Whitney randomly?

I think it’s clear ‘it’s me, your brother, Josh’ was intended given the story. The problem at the time was that everything about him had been left so vague that there was no way we could know whether it was good dialogue or not. Jasmine had been revealed as Zoe’s daughter at least 2 months earlier and not one character had bothered asking her what had happened to her brother. And that was bad writing.

Why would Oscar choose Jasmine over Josh?

And poor Jessie Wallace still looks like she can’t believe the scripts they keep giving her.

It makes no sense at all!!! Just ... why?! They needed a more organic way to bring her im, maybe as an old friend of Honey's or something, as none of this is landing

They probably saw the forums after and thought ... ah, shit They had to salvage it!

Agreed with all of this. Zack is atrocious, and him screaming for barny in the street at night - when he was in the middle of his gcses - was disgusting. Axe him!!! He should have been Teddy's son and that was it.

I actually don’t mind Zac and Barney or Zac and Vicki as a dynamic, I think Zac and Vicki works way more than Vicki and Ross but as a character there’s just barely a need for Zac to be there and it shows in the way they’ve had to throw everything at the wall for anything to stick. I guess it’s not his fault Sharon isn’t there which doesn’t help, he has no connections without her so they’re forcing him and Vicki and then the random Barney thing. I wish they would just realise sometimes a character doesn’t really work and you can’t force it.

It’s a shame Laura Doddington smashing it out of the park is surrounded by all this rubbish. I only hope Jasmine doesn’t get off and they just cut their losses, they’ve still got Josh for the Zoe finding her long lost children thing and obviously he’s working so much better than Jasmine.

Tbh why do any of this and kill Anthony off if Jasmine isn't going to go to prison? Her defence is ropey at best and today's episode shows that Kat doesn't want her to come home. Sandra also revealing what happened with Jasmine and her husband's death feeds straight into what her character has been established as, cold (yes, I know she was a kid but still). I don't see how the viewing public can ever warm to her and she's not a villain to secretly root for either.

Him being able to act and having a proper, grounded storyline is helping!! Though him dressing as a party clown the other day and the nonsense with Patrick were eye rolling.

All this trial keeps doing is rattling off lists as to why Jasmine shouldn’t be a regular character. There is nothing likeable about her character at all, nothing positive she has given any of the other characters. Being Zoe’s daughter isn’t enough. Oscar pining for her isn’t enough.

If we’re supposed to be invested in her, they’ve massively dropped the ball. Just lock her up, they have a fresh start with Josh who actually has been a positive presence for every character he’s met.

Michelle Ryan was ok playing Zoe like this 20 years ago when she was playing a stroppy teenager but it’s not great coming from a woman in her 40s. It’s like the only development Zoe had off screen was ‘I had kids and abandoned them’.

I actually don’t care either way about the verdict tomorrow. I cba with the aftermath either way.

Also Ross is just a dud imo, the Joel saga was great but I think he should have left when it all came out and cut his losses. It’s a shame bc the actor has been great in other things but there is just zero chemistry between them and I don’t see how they can come back from this.
