Welcome to a *staggered* results show for the first quiz of this new quiz season! The results are still being calculated, but I shall try to at least begin this evening with the first few questions and see how we get on. The rest of the results will come in the next day or two due to a busy schedule.

Here are the general rules;

 

* Submit an answer that you think nobody else will think to enter

* If you succeed, you score a pointless answer with 0 points

* If someone else provides the same answer as you, you each score 1 point

* Incorrect answers equal a points penalty based upon the number of participants

* The winner of each round will be determined by whoever scores the lowest pointed correctly guessed answer

As mentioned above, these results are still being worked out, but I will attempt to reveal the answers given for the first few questions this evening.

 

We will start with Question 1 where you were simply asked to state an artist to have reached #1 in the UK Singles Chart in 2024. 12 unique artists were submitted, but one acceptable artist was not answered by anybody at all... who might that be? :thinking:

Our first result of the evening shows three pointless participants leading with three unique answers, so well done to CowTzy, HarryBorelli and jimwatts for taking an early lead. Nobody thought of Stormzy whose recent #1 BACKBONE with Chase & Status would have been a pointless answser. Next up we turn our attention to the meaning of the word "epizeuxi" which many might not have heard of until a few weeks ago... :kink:

Waheyyy, going for the current #1 as the quiz opened paid off!

Oh thought Hozier would've been a good answer not to put bottom with oops. Chase and Status were my next in line pick so should've gone with that instead lol.

Billie was typically my first bet for this question but ended up going with Hozier thinking he’d be a Low scorer but looks like a few of us made that error. :lol:

So this question might have thrown a couple of people due to the criteria I had set, it both had to be an example of a song from the 21st century AND also a Top 10 hit, but this threw a few people. However, some great examples given, along with three unique pointless answers! Well done to paulgilb, jojo89 and Scene for coming up with ones that nobody else guessed. The Bell & Spurling example was not even listed in the poll Mangø recently made so a good shout there indeed! Next up British Albums by British bands.

Don't worry Wardy your hosting duties are very much appreciated! Just thought I'd get out my pedant hat in a light-hearted manner as I had discarded that answer and didn't do as well :teresa: :lol:

Props to paulgilb for thinking of one which wasn't in the poll, and jojo89 (although I wouldn't have counted that one myself but fair enough), and the Hi-Tack one has brackets so didn't qualify for the poll but is otherwise fine so good shout - otherwise a bit of a lottery with the 6 valid answers from the very recent poll (N'Sync issue aside)

Enjoying the live leaderboard! Two correct answers so far which is a good start.

I immediately thought of Bump Bump Bump for question 2 , then realised it peaked at 11!!

Then Blah Blah Blah and that also peaked at 11 !!
