Kyriatine and Askorza were in my mid to low points that I lost from Semi 2 but at least all of my main highlights were though along with myself!

It's not (I don't think?) mathematically impossible that there'd be none of the qualified entries in semi 1 scoring between 34 and 51 points, we've certainly had semi-finals where the point values drop off a cliff, but as to whether that's a plausible or likely scenario...

 

Looking forward to hearing the semi final 2 songs as it sounds like it was pop heavy :)

Right I've caught up x The aesthetic of all these videos you've made for this contest is genuinely terrifying (complimentary). But thank you for just using one video for qualifiers and one for DNQs rather than uploading 56 different videos as it sped up making my way through the thread a lot to know I could just hover over the URL rather than going through 50 seconds of analogue horror every time haha.

 

I know I'm going to sound like I'm bullshitting now but I did very nearly put FARC on my list of 'wouldn't be surprised if they DNQ' countries as well, I just thought it had a good enough semi draw that it'd probably be ok (and I thought the opposite about Cheiron for the record which I was just fearing could slip out due to wrong semi effect, but I'm glad I was wrong about that as well as Scotland 2 and Terra Avium x). As it were the list of songs that got 100% Q predictions was indeed bang on the money aside from FARC.

As I said in the semi voting thread I did genuinely at least quite like every song in this semi ('I.Y.D.K' is still a 5.5/10 x) and my top 10 were all brilliant so getting 9/10 through is a nice result. 19th feels way way too low in my ranking for Aelandor which was a banger. Herbilore being out again and in last place is really disappointing, I did think it was unlucky to be in such a strong semi but I thought it still had a chance, I suppose at least it was relatively close between all of the DNQs though (and I will echo everyone who implored Herbs not to give up x). Yobnedorica were in my points on my first listenthrough (an interesting choice that in a vacuum seems like a surprising pick from Yobnedor but I have a sneaky suspicion your discovery of it may have something to do with a certain Girls Aloud song that samples it :thinking:) but other songs grew on me more on second listen, wouldn't have got them over the line anyway though.

If I had a penny for every time I ranked The Dare in my top 5 and then he came 21st in the semi I'd now have two pennies. What's wrong with y'all :cry: this was peak Inbetweeners soundtrack core, definitely the most surprising DNQ of the month for me. I'm not as shocked at Land of DW being out but disappointed as well, banger. Otherwise we did well here. I was a little bit worried that a couple of the other alt-electronic entries could suffer from wrong semi syndrome so hallelujah that Dobago, Hinterlandia and Thelonia all got through (yay Hinterlandia especially for a first Q x). Also want to shout out Sandénia for providing a surprisingly strong Ava Max clone entry, happy to see that one through x (probably will still be tough to be in the mix for final points with how many of my faves qualified but still)

 

Thanks blacksquare for the hosting, looking forward to the final! (oh and I wrote up this whole post and genuinely nearly clicked post forgetting to even acknowledge that I qualified myself haha - thanks semi 1 voters, Dan predicting me to DNQ is my lucky charm every time <3)
