- Dobago's medal tally now stands at 3 golds, 3 silvers and 1 bronze with this following our previous 18s to Albin Myers in BJSC 86 and MASTER BOOT RECORD in BJSC 124 (gaps of 38 and 43 contests between their 18s!)
- Cumulonimbia's medal tally now stands at 3 golds, 4 silvers and 5 bronzes. (N.B. this was an extremely close top 2 and I thought right up until the last minute this would have been my 18 but the final listenthrough pushed the melancholy banger vibes of 'house' ahead of the post-punk worship of 'Liebhaber', we did already give an 18 to a German language post-punk track from Cumulonimbia this year anyway so I suppose they don't need another x).
- Lookylion land in our medal positions for the first time ever with a bronze - in fact this more than doubles the total number of points we've given them to date (previously we'd given them a total of 12 points with a highest contribution of 5 points to xPropaganda in BJSC 146, which was also the last time we gave them any points at all). See what happens when you send a post-punk adjacent entry! Even one with pretty strong pop sensibilities as in this case.
- Fljótavík get their highest points from us since 18 to Headache in BJSC 157.
- Hinterlandia get their first points ever from us on their first opportunity (in the final anyway - we would have voted for Pretty Sick as well if they'd qualified x).
- Hendinia get their highest points from us since 12 to Lola Indigo in BJSC 148 (notably despite not getting any points from us in the semi, huge grower here).
- Kluminican Republic (surprisingly!) get their first points from us since 9 to Krystal Klear in BJSC 152.

(also oop sorry to Bronzil being squeezed out of my points at the last minute after our early hype - still a very good pop song that could have got points in other contests but unfortunately ended up being one that didn't really grow on me any more beyond the first listen. My rankings have been more volatile than usual this month so maybe one more listen could have put it back in the 15 but it is what it is x)

Well done Lindsey, we love to see a first time winner after so many years! :clap: (Mothertopia's time will come some time I'm sure x) Can see how 'Situations' did so well as I thought straight away when listening to it that it had definite shades of Dua to it (and I mean I'd take it over half the tracks on 'Radical Optimism' oop).

 

And ofc well done to elgornio for a big new peak though I am a little relieved at COY not just waltzing to a win for a couple of reasons - I know you weren't aware of it having been vetoed before but a former veto going on to sneak through and win years later would have felt a little anticlimactic! That and the song was just not really my cuppa, not bad by any means but I did think it was one of the more forgettable songs on offer oop. Obviously if so many people wanted to send it before it makes sense that it'd do so well though! (and argh only 3 points in it)

 

Will also say that it's great to see not only 2 countries in the top 2 who've never been so high before but also 2 artists in the top 2 that haven't been sent before (albeit with an obvious asterisk on COY lol).
