April 8Apr 8 was trying to figure out how many of those are over 100K?cos I could recall an occ article about 1989 TV:Taylor Swift's re-recorded album, 1989 (Taylor's Version), achieved remarkable sales in the UK upon its release in October 2023. In its opening week, the album sold 184,000 copies, more than doubling the original's first-week sales of 90,000 in 2014.Of these, nearly 62,000 copies were vinyl records, making it the fastest-selling vinyl album of 2023 in the UK. By October 2024, sales had surpassed 84,700 copies.x Harry's House, the only info I could find is this:Harry's House sold 36,041 vinyl copies, accounting for approximately 31.67% of its total 113,812 first-week sales. By October 2022, Harry's House had become the best-selling vinyl album of the year in the UK, with sales surpassing 60,000 copies. But it must have continued selling if he's above 1989 TV
April 8Apr 8 The only one of those I have is "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess"!On a side note (and not wanting to take traffic away from this forum... 🙈), would this thread not be better placed in The Music Lounge? Most of the discussion in here feels like it relates to current music rather than 20th Century stuff!
April 11Apr 11 Is anyone going out for Record Store Day tomorrow? I am, for the second year in a row! It's going to be an early start for me... I'm aiming to arrive at around 7am and the store is an hour's drive away, sooo... pre-6am wake up call! I know that even arriving there as early as 7am, there's bound to be a fairly long queue already. I just don't think I can go any earlier! I'm hoping to get these:Griff - Live from Alexandra PalaceMelanie C - ReasonSugababes - Taller in More WaysTaylor Swift feat. Post Malone - Fortnight (7")I would imagine the only one of those which might be a struggle to get is Taylor Swift. I don't think the other three would be hard to come by. However it's nice to secure what you want on the day and not worry about online sales (and then the wait for them to arrive).Other than Taylor Swift, it seems two of the most desired items this year are Oasis - Time Flies, and the Wicked soundtrack (which is apparently in scarce supply, people are being encouraged to arrive to stores very early if they want a good chance of buying it).
April 11Apr 11 Good luck! I’m busy tomorrow morning so probably just going to try online later in the day again this year, had my eye on these:Adam and the Ants - Prince Charming (a gap in my collection that I wasn't fussed about filling in until a reissue popped up)Charli xcx - Number 1 Angel (not crazy about the new artwork though)Deep Dish - George Is OnOasis - Time Flies… 1994 - 2009 (already missed out on tour tickets so better not miss out on this too )Sugababes - Taller In More Ways

Got to get two buses just to get there cause the earliest direct one wouldn't get me in until just seconds before 8 and I don't want to chance it!It's only Sugababes I'm after this year really so hopefully I'll be alright, but don't want to chance it!
April 11Apr 11 I fail every year to get what I want on the day, I more often than not get lucky with the online resale on Monday night but I'm out this Monday...So I'm undecided whether to try or not, as the closest particpating store is 50 mins drive away and I hate queueing for long. I usually just turn up at midday and see how I get on. The main one I want is The Veronicas' The Secret Life Of, which is in my top 10 albums of all-time. But my usual record store won't be stocking it.I'd like Sugababes and Dannnii Minogue too, but they're not completely essential. And there are about 20-odd other releases that look interesting (Taylor, Charli, Oasis, Sophie Ellis-Bextor) but maybe not interesting enough for me to struggle for the rest of the month 😂 So let's see... April 11Apr 11 Im going about 20 mins away on the tram from me to my local participating record store. I’ve seen what I want in their online listing that being the Sugababes obviously and also the Veronica’s. They also posted an image online that had a few copies of TIMW visible. So my target is to get there for 8:20-8:30 for the store opening at 10
April 12Apr 12 My target was not early enough 🥲There’s already like 35 people ahead of me but at least some of them do not look like Sugababes fans. So fingers crossed people
April 12Apr 12 I woke at 6am, went to the store ay 7am, and I was number #110in the queue, and that's in a little town in Denmark (Aarhus) where I am visiting a friendI was after Taylor's Fortnight and luckily I grabbed one cos there were lots but RSD is becoming too insane99% of the people in line were Swifties looking for Fortnight Edited April 12Apr 12 by Bjork
April 12Apr 12 Author I am at the back of a HUGE queue here in Bristol. I don’t think I’ll be getting the Oasis album :(It’s already £200 plus eBay.
April 12Apr 12 I didn’t even bother going… in fact I haven’t been for years now in person. The Oasis one in principle seems okay but I’m not convinced from the photos that it’s worth it, just 4 coloured records that appear to have no link to the theming at all.
April 12Apr 12 Also it was too expensive, a bit of a rip-off, I could have picked it up but was too expensive for me
April 12Apr 12 Was up at half 4. Got there about twenty minutes to 7 with 30 ahead of me in the queue and...Beautiful reissue, going to give it a spin in a second!
