Surprised there isn’t a One Direction song at number 1 yet?

I was expecting to wake up to see most of the Top 20 taken up by 1D & Liam - looking at iTunes internationally nothing seems to have taken off yet.

I was expecting this as well. Could it be maybe a sign of the times of iTunes not having much impact anymore? if this had happened about 10+ years ago One Direction would have dominated the chart for certain.

Or it could be maybe the core fanbase of One Direction who were teens and pre-teens during the early 2010's are now grown adults and don't consume music in the same way that they used to?

I imagine it's this, which we've known for years really. A lot of their younger fans, at least people my age, didn't grow up purchasing music on iTunes much.

I think there will be plenty of 1D songs on the Spotify charts tomorrow.

144. What Makes You Beautiful (1D)

Well, this is rather shocking, especially for Night Changes which ages like fine wine. :(

Can already see 4 Liam songs on my country's iTunes, however (For You, Familiar, Live Forever & Remember).

I thought ‘Live Forever’ might have taken off, was it a hit originally?

It was pushed as a post-album single IIRC, but it didn't chart. I'm not sure the title is going to want to make many people download it.

I think it could also be that it's spread out between a lot of songs right now, and maybe a defining one will emerge?
