Way out of my depth here but isn't Gracie only famous because she opened for Olivia and Taylor in the past, a position she probably only would've been in thanks to her parents' influence? If there's something I'm missing please enlighten me

I don’t really think it’s a big deal though? M. Night Shyamalan’s latest movie is literally just a vehicle to promote his daughter’s music and she’s nowhere to be seen on any charts anywhere lol. I have literally never heard any Gracie Abrams song ever but if it’s catching on then that’s fair enough.

 

I had this convo on reddit yesterday funny enough about someone else, but I feel like people both underestimate and overestimate the power of nepotism in 2024. Nepotism can get you important connections and money to throw possibly endlessly at a career til you've exhausted your chances or become successful, and that stuff shouldnt be understated. But it doesn't matter how much you throw at your career if people don't connect to your music. You can have all the money in the world and it won't buy you unfiltered spotify streams. Look at Katy Perry. She has money, a huge machine behind her, and name value and all that got her was a week in the top 5 of the albums chart behind albums that had been out for months and a couple songs in the bottom half of the top 100 singles. Even in the US where you can buy radio play that helps your chart position, she topped out in the 60s with Woman's World, and Lifetimes didn't even chart.

The Addison Rae song reminds loads of people of Lana but not me - it reminds me of a poppier version of FKA Twigs' style from a few years ago.
'Diet Pepsi' sounds like a cross between Taylor and Lana to my ears... although lyrically it's much closer to Lana, with it being about car sex :lol:
Taylor has announced that the Anthology part of TTPD is finally getting a physical release at the end of November... it has "35 Tracks" so it looks like we're getting 4 new songs very soon! Maybe they're released on Friday and is the reason why Joe Jonas, Shawn Mendes and (I believe now) Lil Durks all delayed their albums?
