I wouldn't expect Buzzjack chart users to get or enjoy Brat tbh. I'm sure a lot of the general public feel the same way and say things like "it's just noise" "how can anyone like this"

Yeah each to their own but I've tried and I just can't get into it. Kudos to her for all the success she's had with it this year though, she deserves it by this point.

Charli xcx must be one of the biggest cases of Emperor's New Clothes I've ever seen. The album, outside of the odd good track (Guess), is an absolutely dire, tuneless, squeaky mess.

I found the era difficult to begin with… then 360 clicked, followed by Apple, Talk talk, Girl, so confusing and the whole album just became one massive banger. I’ll admit though Club Classics still hasn’t hit for me.

Funny seeing people single out ‘Guess’ as a stand out. I like it, but it’s so far down my list of faves from Brat. Just feels like a novelty/ gimmick song. So many other songs on the album slap in comparison.

I haven’t listened to the remix album in full yet. Although I did listen to Sympathy for the Knife and I prefer the original (oops). Apple and B2b I’ve listened too and think are great!

Hopefully Brat can finally go to Number 1; as it feels like it’s been the soundtrack to Summer 2024.

I don't think sympathy is as instant as guess, I can't see it doing as well. I think Ariana's verse seems to be resonating with her fans and they are liking the song more than I expected. After a good few listens I really like it now.
For me “Brat” is the first time Charli’s artistry has really clicked, aside from the odd song I’ve liked before. I started off being really impressed by “Von Dutch” and then “360”, “Girl So Confusing” and then found myself really enjoying the whole album. And the “Guess” remix was the icing on the cake as I love Billie too. I feel like she’s really found the sweet spot of her style and can now confidently churn out the bangers.
Imagine a year ago saying Charli might just sneak a week at number one

It's been a year of that, as numb as we've gotten to Sabrina and Chappell having multiple songs in the top 10 for months on end, all 3 threatening/getting number 1 this year is mind-blowing

the best thing Charli has ever done imho is the Lorde mix thing. on the other hand, Guess, I don't like it that much. The thing with Troye I didn't like it much either.

Haven't hear the Knife remix but not that crazy about the original so probably won't like it :D

But cannot wait to hear the version with Bon Iver <3 Too bad I'm travelling and cannot listen, cannot even imagine how the track is gonna sound like.

I think about it all the time was always a highlight for me on the album (I know generally people rank it bottom and it's one of the least played songs on the album on Spotify), but the Bon Iver remix is just beautiful.

I think it's really quite striking and unusual to hear a song about the biological clock and worries around that.

This is absolutely correct, I love charli so I'm not slating her. But this album has gone viral and vitality of the saying brat has increased awareness and consumption. If it had been different cover art and approach with the same music I very much an in mind that the album would have charted and left the charts the following week. It's more of a moment than it is of any actual musical importance or quality. I mean the lyrics to apple I mean come on? It's a album that has been enhanced by media and social awareness. Charli deserves it absolutely but most of the album is absolute horror.

Where do you get that from?

Kworb only has it up 20k streams week-on-week which is like just over 2%?!

Spotify publishes their own charts at charts.spotify.com, don't trust other sites

But my math is saying 28% increase, still enough for reset though if if jumped thst much on other services

Wires crossed here a bit. I believe kworb's data is correct (it comes directly from charts.spotify), but you're only looking at the single day increase (10/10 vs. 03/10), whereas Emails is looking at the whole week (basically 7 of those increases). When kworb's weekly chart updates later tonight it'll say the same thing.

As for the increase, it's going from 699,504 to 969,089, you divide the difference into the first value and it gets you a 38.5% increase, I'm guessing the 28% comes from using the other as a denominator.

Brat is #1 on Apple Music for the first time ever!

Sympathy is #20 (guess was #17 now so they’re doing roughly the same even though this one doesn’t have a video to promote it)

Ah ok, you're right, that's my bad

I vehemently disagree.

Charli is probably one of the most hit and miss artists for me, but this is one of the few times I've actually enjoyed a full album.

You don’t get one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the past few years simply from more eyes and a memorable album cover. The marketing has obviously been smart but you need the quality to back that up

Apple is a ‘fun’ spin on generational trauma — not sure what is supposed to be terrible about that

As if the previous opinions in this thread weren't mind boggling enough, this one takes the cake.

What is this the Karen committee at an old age home or the Charli hate club? Dismissing one of the most critically acclaimed, inventive, fun and reflective pop albums of this decade as "an absolute horror" and "just noise". Everyone's free to have an opinion but the stuff said in here today is just bizarre

I can see Sympathy debuting at no1 on Spotify tomorrow or at least No2. It’s much better than the original, and talk talk was imho too but it’s very hit and miss with the remixes I’m finding. The original club classics is a very underrated banger for me but the new one is awful.

I’m guessing by the tracklisting it’s streaming is all being combined with the original version?
