Good evening all and welcome to the results of this week's NMTB quiz.

You had to identify the artist and title from these 13 audio clips:

The scoring was as follows:

* 1 point for correct artist, 1 point for correct title (26 points)

* What do all the songs have in common? (8 points, I may award fewer points for part of the connection)

* What song will be the most correctly guessed? (2 points)

* What song will be the least correctly guessed? (2 points)

* What percentage of participants will correctly identify the full connection between the songs for maximum points? (2 points, nearest answer wins)

Total points available: 40

We had the following 20 participants:

CowTzy

Mack.

Dobbo

Roba.

gooddelta

dandy*

awardinary

Bjork

Jade

PeteFromLeeds

Ansel

Riser

King Rollo

chrissmith276

rio309

HarryBorelli

uptempo_owww!

jimwatts

paulgilb

JulianT

Since there are less than 30 entries, this means that everyone will score leaderboard points :cheer:

And spiceboy will receive compensation points as if he was the host.

I'm not one to drag things out, so I'll do the results two or three at a time, starting shortly!

1. Billy Ocean - Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car

This clip of a car engine starting was the unaltered intro to Billy Ocean's #3 hit from 1988. Only a quarter of you managed to identify it!

Two points (5/20): gooddelta, dandy*, chrissmith276, jimwatts, JulianT

2. Metallica - Sad But True

This was played at double speed, and incorrect guesses for the artist included AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Motley Crue, amongst others.

Several players correctly guessed Metallica but dandy* was the only player to get both the artist and title so well done! But was this the least correctly guessed song? We'll find out!

Two points (1/20): dandy*

One point (3/20): Roba., gooddelta, Jade

3. Belinda Carlisle - (We Want) The Same Thing

If you don't know then I am a huge Belinda stan, so when I found that this song fit the connection, I couldn't not include it (although she does have many better songs).

Special mention also to gooddelta who also identified that it was specifically the Summer Remix which was the radio edit of the single (although he only gets extaa kudos for that, not extra points!)

Two points (8/20): gooddelta, dandy*, Bjork, Jade, PeteFromLeeds, King Rollo, paulgilb, JulianT,

One point (1/20): jimwatts

Must admit I've never heard 2 before at all, but took a guess because it sounded like either Metallica or Iron Maiden, so that's great to get a point.

I do know the other two, that car rev is quite a memorable intro, and Belinda's 'hey hey hey' from the Summer mix of that single is iconic.

LOL at Belinda Carlisle, I ventured Heaven is a place on earth as a potential entry plucked out of thin air, had no idea you were a Belinda stan

Found out Billy Ocean after sending my PM. Never heard that one from him oddly!

Metallica was kinda obvious for me but was not sure on what track it was. Wouldn't have known the beginning to the Belinda C track either

4. The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey - Closer

Lots of people doing well on this one, as expected - the hook is pretty easily recognisable even when slowed down.

Btw, I didn't dock anyone points if they didn't include Halsey as being featured!

Two points (16/20): CowTzy, Mack., Dobbo, Roba., gooddelta, Bjork, Jade, PeteFromLeeds, Ansel, Riser, chrissmith276, rio309, uptempo_owww!, jimwatts, paulgilb, JulianT

5. Avicii - Hey Brother

Another relatively easy one as the song sounds pretty similar played backwards as it does played normally

Two points (15/20): CowTzy, Mack., Dobbo, Roba., gooddelta, dandy*, Jade, PeteFromLeeds, Ansel, Riser, chrissmith276, HarryBorelli, jimwatts, paulgilb, JulianT

6. Billy Idol - White Wedding

The second clip of the round which features an 80s song by a man called Billy! Just over half of you got this, but several incorrect guesses included A-Ha.

Two points (11/20): Mack., Roba., gooddelta, dandy*, awardinary, PeteFromLeeds, Ansel, King Rollo, chrissmith276, jimwatts, paulgilb

Ah, that's why it sounded different on the version I found! That song was my first thought, but when I didn't match I assumed it must be something else. At least I still got a point!

Those were among the easiest for me, especially Closer, which I got before anything else (apart from Belinda).

Metallica actually being a correct artist guess, excellent :cheeseblock:

'White Wedding' was really bugging me so I'm glad that has been revealed now.

7. Of Monsters & Men - Little Talks

Almost all of you managed to identify this, even though it was played at half the speed. But will it the most correctly guessed? We'll find out!

Two points (18/20): Mack., Dobbo, Roba., gooddelta, dandy*, awardinary, Bjork, Jade, PeteFromLeeds, Ansel, Riser, King Rollo, chrissmith276, rio309, uptempo_owww!, jimwatts, paulgilb, JulianT

8. Simple Minds - Don't You (Forget About Me)

We return to the 80s for what was the first of eight top ten hits for Simple Minds. Many of you got this, despite it being played backwards.

Two points (14/20): Mack., Dobbo, Roba., gooddelta, dandy*, awardinary, Jade, PeteFromLeeds, Ansel, Riser, King Rollo, rio309, jimwatts, JulianT

9. Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend

I must admit, I thought this would have been one of the most correctly guessed but evidently not!

Two points (8/20): Dobbo, Roba., gooddelta, dandy*, Jade, PeteFromLeeds, Riser, uptempo_owww!

Avril took me AGES lol. Had Jessie J, Nicki and Ting Tings down at one point lol. Glad it did come to me though.

Simple Minds and OM&M again pretty easy for me.

Of Monsters & Men slowed down sounded like a funeral march, and the Simple Minds backwards sounded hilarious  both quite easy though. Argh that's what the next one was, originally I was going to put The Prodigy - Out Of Space :kink: then quickly realised it wasn't that, but it did sound very familiar!

I initially thought 9 was Shake It Off but then could decipher the 'I can, I can do it better' bit, which I knew was from Girlfriend.

Surprised more people found Little Talks easier than Closer!

Ahhhh #4 was that song... to be honest I've only heard it about once in my life so I'm not kicking myself for not getting it. I knew it was dance so I just guessed David Guetta and went for a song that I thought fitted the theme

 at me thinking that was the most difficult one yet finding another one really easy that nobody else got!
