OK but while I'm not totally opposed to someone taking a far right to left wing pipline which seems to happen a lot less than the other way around, this is not necessarily what is happening here as she is still doing far right stuff right up until her last week (this week) in Congress. Like she introduced this bill to eliminate the H-B1 visa programme entirely which goes beyond what even the US administration has done.

But still funny.

Ah yeah of course, I don’t doubt for a second she’s still the same old racist ignorant terrible person. It’s just fascinating how volatile and opportunistic people like that are.

Remember that alleged attack by Ukraine on one of Putin's homes last week? You know, the one Trump condemned as soon as his mate Putin told him it had happened. Well, and I know this is hard to believe, it seems that Trump has now changed his mind and decided that it didn't happen after all. Naturally, he hasn't mentioned his previous remarks in the hope that everybody will have forgotten them.

i am HOWLING at Machado giving her Nobel Peace Prize medal to trump when she found out she can't be the leader of venezuela, like girl the bootlicking, the salvaging when the immature trump is upset at not getting the prize in the first place 😭

Trump has such a fragile ego LMAOOO.

It’s apparently okay for him to mock others, but it’s not okay for people to mock him.

Tariffs on European countries including the UK and Denmark over the Greenland situation.

the regularly scheduled nonsense to try and prove 'might makes right, fuck my allies' then

Fingers crossed that this government finally has the courage to stop trying to curry favour with him when he can't be appeased. Ignoring his tarrifs is really the best move, if any doubt that the man is a bully and authoritarian were left then this should dispel that notion. Canada certainly has the right idea, I read elsewere that Trump is making "China great again" and on his current trajectory you have to begin to wonder.......

Interesting to see where and how this pivots. It’s nice to see how unpopular his move is both domestically and internationally to take Greenland. The whole event seems to be more of a legacy piece rather than an actual piece of foreign policy.

Such a dumb move and it’s good to see Europe standing up. MAGA seem to be making deeply unpopular moves with the electorate and not sure how much “we need this for national security” holds up outside of the core support. Quite clearly, they don’t need it.

Interestingly enough the true MAGAites wouldn’t consider intervention like this as true MAGA - they don’t like interventionism albeit the dominance in the western hemisphere is something they can tolerate.

Trump's message to the Norwegian pm. Confirmed as genuine now by BBC.

"Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America."

I like the angle he went for there, because he, Trump, would absolutely abuse the institutions of his country for his own benefit, and he has, because any objective Supreme Court would have ruled him unfit to be reelected as President, and as such he can't fathom that the apparent institutions of another country wouldn't also be abused by the government for his benefit.

that the Nobel Committee is nothing to do with the government of Norway... details.

'True MAGA' is a very fringe ideology - most of the MAGA base will simply follow whatever Trump wants and says regardless of whether there is any ideological coherence to it. It's been like this for years.

When Trump uses Manifest Destiny in his inauguration speech then any notion of not liking interventionism fades into the past for all but a few exceptions that no conservatives actually care about (Marjorie Taylor Greene).

This is rather scary.

Well yes. It's why Trump and his base probably think Europe will cave to the demands if he takes it by force, but I don't think any of them understand the repecussions.

All this does is push Europe towards China. For all their faults at leat they are a reliable economic partner. If the US wanted Greenland they would take it and I don't think we'd offer any force, but certainly all military personnel would be expelled. I'm not sure Europe would pull the economic lever but it's certainly an option. I think Trump and the Republicans have more pressing domestic issues they need to be taking care of rather than thinking of a legacy project.

I think Denmark will sell Greenland to the US. That's what I think will happen. Trump won't just back down but bet Denmark does. Let's see.

Meanwhile, Usha Vance will be the first US Second Lady to give birth whilst in office. Baby expected July.

I don't think they will sell. What happens if next year Trump decides he needs to buy Ireland?

The Greenland issue is pure vanity - it's not popular domestic or foreign vote winner. He'll just throw his toys out of the pram on this one and make the biggest political screw up since the Iraq War if he chooses to invade.

Well if they don't sell I think he'll invade then.

I guess he is panicking about the polls and upcoming midterms and just hoping that Greenland and Venezuela will solve all his economy/fuel prices issues.
