Biography

Michael Barratt (born 4 March 1948), known professionally as Shakin' Stevens, is a Welsh singer and songwriter. He was the UK's biggest-selling singles artist of the 1980s. His recording and performing career began in the late 1960s, although it was not until 1980 that his commercial success began. His most successful songs were nostalgia hits, evoking the sound of 1950s rock and roll and pop. In the UK alone, Stevens has charted 33 Top 40 hit singles including four chart-topping hits "This Ole House", "Green Door", "Oh Julie", and "Merry Christmas Everyone"; his last Top 40 single was "Trouble" in 2005 apart from his Christmas song, which has re-entered the UK Singles Chart each December since 2007. - Wikipedia

If Pepsi gets censored, literally nothing is safe anymore.

tbf, that was only in terms of mentioning it by presenters, rather than censoring it from the song

though your point is true, nothing is safe, they have gone censor mad lol

Oh no, another one that I hate.
14 is probably Shaky. Glad to see Andy get a play, my favourite Christmas song :)
Now that IBTLALLC has dropped out of favour, that 1 week at #6 breaking its multiple set of peaks at #7 has become all the more annoying.

I've been racking my brains trying to work out what that stands for

I find the Andy Williams one more annoying than Elton's, same as all the super retro crooner ones
not a fan of these ancient american christmas hits dominating (except brenda lee, ill allow her)

Biography

Band Aid were a charity supergroup featuring mainly British and Irish musicians and recording artists. It was founded in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for anti-famine efforts in Ethiopia by releasing the song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" for the Christmas market that year. On 25 November 1984, the song was recorded at Sarm West Studios in Notting Hill, London, and was released in the UK on Monday 3 December. The single surpassed the hopes of the producers to become the Christmas number one on that release. Three subsequent re-recordings of the song to raise further money for charity also topped the charts, first the Band Aid II version in 1989 and the Band Aid 20 version in 2004 and finally the Band Aid 30 version in 2014. The original was produced by Midge Ure. The 12" version was mixed by Trevor Horn. - Wikipedia

Biography

During her championship season on the first American Idol in 2002, Kelly Clarkson wowed judges and viewers in ways that countless contestants have emulated since but few ever repeated. But what’s most amazing about the Texan sweetheart’s Cinderella story is not how she earned that first burst of reality-TV glory but how she extended her 15 minutes to weather setbacks and forge a career as one of music’s best-loved performers. Clearly Clarkson’s power and versatility as a vocalist were equaled by her determination and resilience, qualities she displayed when she shifted away from pop ballads like her Idol signature song “A Moment Like This” toward spunkier declarations of autonomy like 2004’s “Since U Been Gone” and 2011’s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).” Those hits proved Clarkson was just as happy rocking out as she was demonstrating her fervent love for pop, country, and R&B. They also showed how even major-league song doctors like Max Martin had to conform to Clarkson’s style and sensibility, not the other way around. Her eighth consecutive album to debut in the top three spots on the Billboard album charts, 2017’s Meaning of Life was her most confident and well-rounded statement to date. The single “Heat,” an irresistible gospel-house hit fueled by Clarkson’s unbeatable spirit and limitless energy, proved she could cut it as a club diva, too. - Apple Music

Biography

Celtic-punk band The Pogues rose to prominence in the ’80s on the strength of raucous live shows and the poetic soul of Kent-born Irish vocalist Shane MacGowan. The latter was a vital vocal interpreter—witness his melancholy turn on Ewan MacColl’s “Dirty Old Town”—and crafted lyrics about deeply flawed characters (the toxic couple of “Fairytale of New York”) and the bittersweet nature of life (the hard-living bar denizens in "Sally MacLennane" and the nostalgic narrators of “A Pair of Brown Eyes”, both found on 1985’s Elvis Costello–produced Rum Sodomy & the Lash). MacGowan never lost sight of the humanity beneath the surface, which gave his music great depth. The Pogues parted ways with him in the early ’90s over his erratic behaviour but continued on as a band, earning a modest global hit in 1993 with the jangly “Tuesday Morning”. However, the story had a happy ending: in 2001, MacGowan enjoyed a well-deserved victory lap with The Pogues, touring with them on and off until 2014. - Apple Music

noooo Kelly at #11 :/
tbf, that was only in terms of mentioning it by presenters, rather than censoring it from the song

though your point is true, nothing is safe, they have gone censor mad lol

Back in the day the song itself would have to be changed before it could be released and promoted. Famously 'Lola' by the Kinks had to refer to 'Cherry Cola' at a time when such didn't yet exist, because the original lyric was Coca Cola but that wasn't allowed for fear of giving free advertising, so censoring brand names is nothing new.

Fairytale of New York <3 still sounds incredible after all these years, easily the best of the regulars for me, never gets annoying
Surprised this is not in the Oscars 2025 short list.

Needs to be an original song

Thank god that Sabrina stopped Bublé from getting Christmas #1 album for a second time
