That top 3 is actually perfection, Heaven is a place n earth 11/10, Always on my mind 11/10 and Krush 11/10

Heaven is a Place was penned by Rick Nowles which later went to write and produce all the early Lana hits like Summertime Sadness

House Arrest was the 1st dance track I truly enjoyed as a kid <3

from the newbies Sign Your Name is such a classic of classics, perfect song from TTD and did well to go top 10 considering it was single #4 froma top selling album. I also like the Climie Fisher one

Bit of a Belinda anthem, but my personal chart-topper for Belinda is to come later in the year. Climie Fisher's single wasn't nearly as good as their previous flop, which I bought, but that'll be back soon too for another personal chart-topper. Probably the best Terence single, Sign Your Name. Cher belting 'em out rock-chick phase, but she too will top my charts again when she changes style a bit in 2 years time. The Stranglers' was a decent cover of The Kinks great, though not as good as the original, and Joyce Sims' was a good classy soul ballad.

Shame about Morris Minor, from the otherwise funny comedian Tony Hawks, always enjoyed his TV spots on shows like Would I Lie To You.

House Arrest was the first dance song that I loved. I still love it and found it on double 12" in Belfast a few years back.

Echoing the love for Heaven is a Place...

I prefer Love Changes Everything for Climie Fisher.

Have to say that the singer holding that shirt in the performance starts to appear awkward very quickly. I'm sure it was a unique styling thing, but he doesn't seem to know what to do with it after a while.

too bad Climie Fisher lasted basically one era, next album flopped and they disbanded

23RD JANUARY

Her album sprints 22-7 to reach a new peak, but on the singles chart “Heaven Is A Place On Earth” remains at No 1 for Belinda Carlisle though its increase cools to 25% but nevertheless sales register 83,538 last week with total sales at a respectable 312,409 far outstripping anything she sold as a Go-Go.

She was under pressure for the first part of the week from Terence Trent D’Arby whose “Sign Your Name” flies 8-2 (60,350) to become his biggest hit and sees the parent album rise 4-3 to prove his biggest week overall. Post TOTP Carlisle pulled clear and indeed as “Sign Your Name” faded it was almost caught on Saturday by the fast rising “I Think We’re Alone Now” from the US’s newest sensation Tiffany.

The track is a cover of the 1967 US No 4 hit by Tommy James & The Shondells and was written by Ritchie Cordell who was also responsible for “Mony Mony” which was a top 10 for Billy Idol a few months ago, by sheer fate Tiffany hit the top stateside last November for a fortnight and was replaced by Idol’s version of “Mony Mony” giving Cordell back to back US chart toppers. Her first single “Danny” failed to impress at retail not getting a release outside the US but her second single has made her an international star as it rockets 13-3 (57,919) in just its second week and looks to the world like the UK’s next No 1 in 7 day’s time. Like Elisa Fiorillo (who was in the top 10 a few weeks ago) Tiffany got her break on US talent show “Starsearch” where she was runner up in the Junior Female vocalist category in the same year (1985) but the 16 year old has now proved the first major star from the series. Her route to fame was an unusual one accompanied by her decision to promote this song in the US via a tour of shopping malls which certainly turned the trick.

No other new tracks to discuss but plenty of movement, Tiffany’s arrival means that Krush (3-4, 55,590) Morris Minor & The Majors (4-5, 54,961) and Cher (5-6, 36,091) all move down a space despite the former two tracks all getting healthy sales gains and indeed No's 2 to 5 were all within 5k of each other, whilst The Stranglers (No 7, 33,337) and Climie Fisher (No 10, 28,832) refuse to move. Joyce Sims improves 9-8 (32,640) while Wet Wet Wet complete the top 10 moving 6-9 (30,328).

1- HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH- Belinda Carlisle (83,538)

2- SIGN YOUR NAME- Terence Trent D’Arby (60,350)

3- I THINK WE’RE ALONE NOW- Tiffany (57,919)

4- HOUSE ARREST- Krush (55,590)

5- STUTTER RAP (NO SLEEP TIL BEDTIME)- Morris Minor & The Majors (54,961)

6- I FOUND SOMEONE- Cher (36,091)

7- ALL DAY AND ALL OF THE NIGHT- The Stranglers (33,337)

8- COME INTO MY LIFE- Joyce Sims (32,640)

9- ANGEL EYES (HOME AND AWAY)- Wet, wet, wet (30,328)

10- RISE TO THE OCCASION- Climie Fisher (28,832)

That Tiffany track I prefer to the Belinda Carlisle track, its more dance focused with some lively beats and production.

I did not know that I Think We're Alone Now was a cover.

It's such an iconic hit, but always reminds me on Robin Sparkles in How I Met Your Mother.

Speaking of songs that remind you of TV shows, the Black Mirror episode 'San Junipero' gave me newfound appreciation for 'Heaven Is A Place On Earth'.

Another week with a perfect top 3, even top 4. Great that TTD made the top 2!

I was a big fan of Tiffany as a kid, I even remember that Danny single. Even though soon I became. Debbie Gibson fan, sorry Tiffany :D

Did 'Always On My Mind' really drop from 2-out of the top 10?

No 11 :o just 24.4k sold

I was a fan of Tommy James records, so it was great he was getting some 80's love as he had just the one hit in the UK, but had loads in the US. Tiffany's cover I'd charted in September 87 as it was getting radio play while I was driving round California/Nevada then. As was Mony Mony - but not the live version that charted here, it was a dance track, so I had to buy the 12" to get hold of that version.

I spotted Tiffany on The Masked Singer last year, I'd just bought her recent new single and it was a bit obvious it was her to me, I kept shouting at the judges on the TV "It's Tiffany!" but they didnt listen....

^Did you go to Tiffany's famous mall tour, "The Beautiful You: Celebrating The Good Life Shopping Mall Tour '87"?? :)
Did 'Always On My Mind' really drop from 2-out of the top 10?

It does seem a steep drop... but then I've just been looking back at the end of the 1987 thread and realised that 'The Way You Make Me Feel' rebounded back up from #8 to #3 in the last chart there but disappears altogether in this thread - a quick check on polyhex suggests it went 16-03-03-06-08-03-16!
