The whole thing is an attempt to reclaim the narrative away from Farage and his dodgy dealings. yes there are some benefits cheats, but we've also got loads of tax dodgers and self emploeyd workers who fiddle their books. There's always people who abuse the system unfortunately.

The easiest way to save the countey from bankruptcy is to move the triple lock to a double lock, which is the absolute right thing to do for the country.

Benefits claimants will be made to clean up their local communities and do charity work or face being stripped of their benefits under Reform UK plans.

Robert Jenrick, the party’s Treasury spokesperson, said the long-term unemployed would have to work 20 hours a week scrubbing high streets, carrying out minor repairs and “beautifying neglected places”. He said: “They’ll work to clean up high streets and parks, to beautify neglected places, to carry out minor repairs, to staff libraries and community centres to perform many other tasks from the list that we’ve published today. We’ll also embrace local charities and community groups and ask them to help us and take part. If claimants refuse to participate or fail to show up, they’ll face penalties. The proposal was announced alongside others that Mr Jenrick said would cut £50 billion from the welfare bill.

It includes seeing disability and sickness payments withdrawn or changed, in a move Reform branded the biggest shake-up of the welfare state in a generation.

Under the changes, foreign nationals would also be banned from claiming almost all types of benefits in the UK, including EU nationals.

Quite. Practically, as such 'community work' takes away time from seeking more permanent work or other social and personal responsibilities these people have, they should be paid as if it were a job and should have the right to refuse if that would leave them financially worse off because of loss of benefits. Great that Reform is seeking to provide work for the unemployed, I'm glad it's not a cruel punishment for the people it views as beneath them under the guise of saving money.

Another solution is they could just reinstate the real and needed jobs that people used to have doing those things before local councils cut them.

So would you have done this work?

I work in the housing sector and see first hand how many people now claim PIP and how many children have diagnosis. I think they expect PIP to rise from 24 billion ore Covid in 2019 to 48 billion by 2034. I just want a fair system that the people who are vulnerable get protected and don’t risk losing out because the people who BS their way to these payments claim it and aren’t entitled to it.

As Rooney said above the self employed who make up their incomes yearly are just as bad.

The system has to be seen to be fair or it’ll fall apart.

I didn't actually expect it to ever come out that Reform-aligned moneyed interests were funding polls that subtly favoured them, even though that was obviously happening since the election. I thought polls were too much of a niche interest, but they've also been reported on a lot more in recent years as ascendant right populists have started to find them useful for displaying strength and drawing support to their cause. Though nor did I think that anyone involved with Reform would be so brazenly corrupt as to be directly involved in such an exercise - perhaps a naive underestimation. Buzzing that they've been caught over this.

Of course everyone else involved with this and caught out by this video is resigning but Saint Nige will remain atop the ship even though obviously approving of this.
