  • Boo! I’d tuned in specially to hear “Lose Control” for the 374th time.

  • Don't think Jamie has done enough running yet, maybe he can run down the chart once he's finished

I think what bothered me most wasn't the coverage of Jamie Laing's marathon, but it was the fact they played other music in between the coverage, when they could've easily played the new entries

The issue with this is that it'd require setting up, the OCC would probably have to run it themselves, hire someone to host/oversee it, ultimately this is easy for them as the BBC do the work for putting the actual show together! There's no incentive for the OCC to do it, and it obviously rates well enough for the BBC to keep it on the schedule 99% of the time.

I'm frustrated about how this week's being handled but I don't think any other station would remain as committed to the chart as Radio 1 do.

"Committed" is an overstatement. But yes, I take your point overall. It is what it is and I guess we should count ourselves lucky that we get to listen to Lose Control multiple times every month on a Friday afternoon as @Julian_ points out!

You really haven't thought this one through, have you? (as per usual...)

Yes I have actually and besides, it’s a memory for a lot of people. No one has asked me if they remember the charts being on Fridays but lots of people have asked me if I remember the charts being on Sundays and besides, Sundays are better and they had more listeners when it was on Sundays

I can do 5 miles in 30 minutes he’s not even trying

Do you think you could do it in 30 minutes if you'd already run 150 miles before it?

Somehow I can't see them changing a global release day just to satisfy your nostalgic need of a chart being on Sunday lol lol

I mean, in 52 weeks a year, the chart is typically played 50 or 51 weeks! The final week of the year often gets skipped but only in favour of the Chart of the Year, and an event like today is a rarity. They normally work around stuff like Glastonbury so we still get a chart show. Not to mention we get a First Look chart show almost every week too - that's definitely committed in my eyes, not that it's all 100% perfect.

The pace Jamie is running at - assume he'll finish just before 5pm

Sounds like we might get something at 5pm, he is 10 to 15 minutes away

he's done 5 marathons, 1 each day this week? or did i get it wrong?

They're ultra marathons - so i think they're 30 miles each, rather than 26.

So will complete 150 miles overall

Not broadcasting the chart show really is something so out of the ordinary.

Ordinary what? The new number 1? lol

I don't think there are too many of us excited to listen to Ordinary at number 1 today. I like it, but I don't love it. P

I'd guess they'll interview him and reveal how much he raised before doing anything chart-related. We might get top 10 but will assume we get nothing like last time

Would be great if Radio 1 could pledge their allegiance to broadcasting the chart.

They're probably more bothered with Comic Relief rather than how high (or low) Jade is in the chart.

remember had year weird chart show

Had did new music then track from album chart then did min singles chart there worst years
